My LTTE on Lamont/Lieberman/Cheney gets published

After upstart Ned Lamont upset the incumbent, millionaire lawyer, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, in the Democratic primary last week, the reaction from the Republican Party was swift and focused on the exact same talking points.

Every Republican, from Vice President Dick Cheney down to every right-wing radio jock and op-ed writer, all said basically the same thing. They all lamented the loss of Lieberman and said it was a victory for al-Qaida and the loony left of the Democratic Party.

Yet, Osama bin Laden is still at large and al-Qaida seems stronger than ever, while America's status in the world has been severely weakened, Iraq and Afghanistan are a mess, and Iran and North Korea are thumbing their noses at us.

With Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, the White House, and the judiciary, it is too bad they only seem to get focused when it comes to playing politics and not in fighting the real war on terror.

8. Some Letter tips

Most newspapers have a normal limit of 150-200 words for a Letter to the Editor, though there are obviously exceptions to the rule. It is always good to keep that in mind if you submit a Letter – MS Word has a feature under the Tools Menu called Word Count that I use when composing a letter.

The main newspaper in Connecticut – The Hartford Courant – does publish longer LTTEs on Saturday, however. I'm guessing other newspapers have similar days for longer letters.

up ads for dinner, etc and the letter will not come up. i would love to read it, but even if I don't get the opportunity to do so, congratulations and thanks for taking the time to write it. More of us need to follow your example.

BTW, does anyone remember reading charges that it was antisemitism in the Democratic Party that caused the Liebeman loss? It seems like that was all that I read the first couple of days then that charge disappeared.
