If we win the '08 election (which at this point will be imperative), maybe we can get some judges on the Supreme Court to help counteract these RWers that Bushie has been putting on there.

Plus, is there any law that states the Supreme Court has to have nine members? It hasn't always been that way. Why not expand the SCOTUS to 11 or even 15 members? Or better yet, expand it to 13 members. I think that would make it a lot harder for either side to "pack" the court. Just a thought, throwing shit on the wall to see what sticks.

The court is proven fallible, when a law would make sure that
the right was there, like slavery abolition. We've wasted 30
years of hope on a court. Its not worth another. WE need to
become the party of legislation, and a squeaky-clean uncorrupt

2. I don't think there's

much chance of expanding the court. About the only thing I can think of doing is praying that Stevens (almost 86) and Ginsberg (who's had health issues) remain on the court through bush's last 3 years. And I'm not much for praying.

stevens is not a kid anymore. If alito gets in it will only take one more judge to step down, and you can forget about it for a long time

Incidently, I doubt the spinless democrats, even if they took back congress would bring up articles of impeacment

frankly I think the country is screwed, and will remain so until enough people feel the pain from the actions this administration is doing

The repugs would accuse us of "packing" the court, but it might be necessary in order to salvage any semblance of freedom.

Of course, if we could pass a Constitutional amendment guaranteeing a right to privacy, that might help as well.

That is the whole point, and why I am so outraged/dismayed/saddened/perplexed that our so-called "leaders" seem to be giving up in trying to stop the confirmation. This isn't just differing to the President's right to choose anyone he pleases, but in light of all the corruption charges, the Unity theory, etc, etc, it simply is irresponsible to confirm such an obviously outside-the-mainstream corporatist/federalist Bushevik at this point in history. You can't undo this...the SCOTUS is where you'd come for redress, and what's Alito going to do? He's Bushie's boy, and agrees with all the radical federalist shit Cheney does.
