Santorum accuses Dems of politicizing terror war
Opponent Casey says it is Pa. senator who seeks political dividends
Friday, August 11, 2006

By James O'Toole, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum contended yesterday that the British discovery of a plot to bomb airliners is evidence of a "global war on Islamic fascism," embracing fronts from Afghanistan to the United States.

"It shows you that the threat that we've been talking about is not just in Afghanistan; it's not just in Iraq; it's not just in southern Lebanon and northern Israel," Mr. Santorum said as he campaigned in Westmoreland County. "It is a pervasive threat ... by those Islamic fascists.

"These people will not stop until we stop them."

In several interviews as he toured Southwestern Pennsylvania, the Republican accused Democrats of politicizing the war issue, and sending messages that, he said, encouraged perceptions by the nation's enemies that the United States lacks resolve.

1. Thank Goodness
that the GOP doesn't do the same thing, gosh they would never, ever take advantage of any situation. Their souls are as pure as the driven snow........ (well, perhaps not).

Surely President Bush et al. has not used the war on terror to bolster their own political image. No, surely not! In fact, if I remember correctly, before this whole war on terror thing Bush was admired by all....

Oh, now I remember! Bush was a dopey guy in a suit playing president before 9/11. Ever since he climbed on top of that rubble he's been a dopey guy in a suit who has been riding the terrorism angle as long as he possibly can (as have the rest of the crooks and liars). And Sanitarium has the audacity to claim that the Dems have been using this never-ending war on terrorism for political gain? :puke:

7. It figures
Attack is the best defense, and this is Santorum speaking to the repub base. He picks up the keywords 'islamic fascists' real nice, and forward the myth of the enemy within.

Basically, it's the Nazi rethoric in reverse, just swap 'Jews' for 'Muslims'.
