While it is very nice that this plot was foiled, the fact remains that 5 years into our Holy War On Terror and it seems al Qaeda or whomever is still capable of planning international terrorist attacks and taking them operational. So it seems that perhaps Team Bush Has Gotten Exactly Nowhere in Five Years.
By the way, if this idea of assembling explosives from carry on containers of assorted liquids was so feasible how is it that our security people who we have spent billions on didn't identify this threat over the last five years and take steps to secure airplanes from such a threat long before any terror plot could be organized? Don't we have teams of worry warts who sit around and think about how we might be attacked? What the heck are they doing?

| 16. Yes. I heard an analysis on public radio |

here in NY tonight, where a woman commentator pointed out that obviously Bush' prosecution of the war on terror is ineffectual. She explained that after 9/11 we should have been going directly after al Qaeda, as we started to do in Afghanistan, and break it up from top to bottom. The fact that the British plot involved so many suspects, with such sophisticated methods, and on a scale to rival or exceed 9/11, shows that, if anything, al Qaeda is growing in both scope and intelligence, as they find ways to exploit weaknesses in our security and inflict damage. In sum, al Qaeda is now an even bigger threat than 5 years ago.
Regarding why we haven't eliminated certain possible vulnerabilities in our ine of defenses?- well, when you have the boobs running the show we are stuck with now, I wouldn't expect anything better. The bottom line is that the Bush administration sucks, and I mean absolutely blows at successfully prosecuting the war on terror. I have to wonder if this all doesn't help make John Kerry look good in retrospect, since he repeatedly said the WOT was best fought with human intelligence. It is categorically NOT a military war.

They haven't gotten their talking points yet from Satan's Echo Chamber.
Either that or they think the Apocolypse is really at hand.
