I believe this was a real plot and, had it not been for the fine work of British authorities, it would've been a horrible event.

The aim of the terrorists was to disrupt travel and instill fear. They have succeeded with the help of the media and our "leaders".

The sick plan of 20 some people have resulted in the ban of all liquids. gels, etc. on all flights. Does this make any sense? The whole system is thrown into chaos. Super red alert is declared. The national guard is called out. Do these reactions have any real purpose?

Some politicians equate the danger to that whhich we faced during the height of the cold war.

Total foolishness. God forbid that the plot uncovered had succeeded. Thousands would've died. Horrible. Unforgivable. Wasteful. But a far cry from the mass destruction that would've been unleashed from a confrontation between US and Soviet forces.

The ultimate goal of the terrorists was not met. But they have succeeded.

Terrorists intend to destroy several jumbo jets over the ocean using liquid explosives smuggled aboard in carry-on luggage. The plot is foiled in the nick of time by authorities.

August 2006? No, it's 1994, and the sinister plan, nicknamed "Oplan Bojinka," is under the direction of Ramzi Yousef and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, a pair of terrorist conspirators hiding out in Manila, Philippines. Khalid would later lead the Sept. 11 attacks on New York and Washington. Yousef was already responsible for having organized the World Trade Center prelude bombing in 1993.
