I went into my dentist's office today and they now have a framed portrait of GWB on the check-in counter - next to a photo of Nancy Reagan. All my relatives - immediate and extended feel a need to forward me just the most offensive anti-Muslim, anti-democrat crap you could imagine - in the guise of jokes. I want to stop going to that dentist now. I want to tell all these e-mail relatives & distant friends to just stop already, but they are my entire support system. My city is as red as you can get. How do you cope with all this? I am getting as frustrated as hell trying to keep my sanity.

Start a DU get together in your area and get new friends. Seriously, you dont need to put up with that crap. Find a new dentist, if we dont stand up for what we believe, what are we? Tell the dentist why you are looking for a new dentist too.

If your dentist is good, don't switch to a new one just because of politics, unless you're afraid that he'll implant Republican mind-control devices while you're under the nitrous.

As for your family, I'd suggest simply deleting the emails. Heck, delete all the emails they send you, regardless of content. And then when they complain that you never respond, tell them that you have no patience for their naive political views.

actually last time i was at my obgyn..i made 50 copies of the web site for pnac..on little card like papers ..and i put it in all the magazines in the lobby when i waited over an hour!


my doc knows how i feel and she called me later that night and asked if it was me who did it..i laughed..

i said well if i have to look at your shit, you have to look at mine..and mine is more truthful!

when going in a restaurant and if they have fox on before i sit down, i ask them to change the channel..if they will not i walk out! and i am very loud about not wanting to watch that propaganda..

as for family..well i have cut numerous out ..

friends well they dwindled for a while..but then they missed me too much..so now they have to put up with me screaming about all this stuff..yes they roll their eyes ..but i will not shut up..

when i had huge signs on my house last year..yes huge signs..the neighbors started talking..and that was my point..and even this spring a lady came to my house and told me i was a legend on the republican island i live on..but last year..i got about 20 notes from people thanking me under my front door mat or mailbox,..and one nut case i had to call the cops on who came to my house screaming at me..

my biggest sign said bush is a liar and murderer!! and i had it in red like blood dripping..it got in all the newspapers!and i had 4 news articles done about it..

then someone found a law making me remove it..so i had every business that had signs up on their roof top decks have to remove their business signs!
whats fair for one ,is fair for all..don;t you think?

and now all the rehtugs near me are all speaking out..about their disgust in little lord pissy pants..and i sit back and relish each one of them awakening!

of course some will never admit it to me directly..but i hear it through the grapevine..and thats ok..

we can not educate without talking..

i run a huge internet group nation wide..so i have deliberately sent out articles daily for 4 years now to every rethug i know..not solicited..i just do it..

and when they ask me to stop, i ignore them..and i keep sending..i figure if they read one article a week, when they are deleting..well they know more than they would have otherwise..from faux..

i have seen many people change their opinions through the past 5 years..and that only happens by talking! and communicating..and sometimes getting in their "face" with truth..

and being a bit pushy...

13. blue stater vacationing in a red state

Thankfully from a blue state where I don't have to encounter this crap myself much but I am traveling in a red state and I see what you mean.

First, I talked to a repuke who actually thought that we were in Iraq fighting for the freedom of Iraqis. I sooooo wanted to laugh in her face but knew that was not the best for gaining converts. I spoke with her at length, though--dont' know if I made a dent.

Second, went to the public library and saw a copy of Laura Bush's book on the new books display.

Yech.

Third, heard a political ad against Senator Ben Nelson by r-w nut Pickett and it said "We must stop the left-wing Kennedy liberals!" How lame.

On the bright side, though, reading the letters to the editor reveals zippo zilch zero support for the bush administration here. People may not be going Democratic but they sure are fed up with the war and the tactics of bushco.

14. I have an acquaintance - we used to be co-workers and he is funny

but as red as can be. And he emails me jokes about the Clintons, Ted Kennedy and others. I just change the names to Limpdick or Bush or Coulter and email them right back.

Come to think of it, I have not gotten any from him recently.
