Remember immediately after the Democratic Convention in 2004 -
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 12:32 PM by Skip Intro
What was a stunning and hopeful convention, in my opinion, certain to give momentum to Democratic campaigns, and within two days of it ending, suddenly, a terror alert is issued, and not just any terror alert:

from Julius blog
---------------------------
Tom Ridge:

The quality of this intelligence, based on multiple reporting streams in multiple locations, is rarely seen, and it is alarming in both the amount and specificity of the information. Now, while we are providing you with this immediate information, we will also continue to update you as the situation unfolds.

As of now, this is what we know: Reports indicate that al-Qaida is targeting several specific buildings, including the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in the District of Columbia, Prudential Financial in northern New Jersey, and Citigroup buildings and the New York Stock Exchange in New York.

---------------------------

Oh, and the media went wild with it. I believe words like stunning and frightening were used a lot. But then, after a day of fearmongering from the regime and its yapping lapdog press, came this:

---------------------------
Much of the information that led the authorities to raise the terror alert at several large financial institutions in the New York City and Washington areas was three or four years old, intelligence and law enforcement officials said on Monday. They reported that they had not yet found concrete evidence that a terrorist plot or preparatory surveillance operations were still under way.
---------------------------

And as TalkLeft, and many here, eventually, wondered:

---------------------------
Was the terror threat issued to prevent Kerry from leaping ahead in the polls?
---------------------------

Is there a correlation to today's "breaking news" that has sapped media attention away from Democrats and what the CT vote means. Is there a reason to think that the same gang who brought us the Iraq/wmd/mushroom clouds fearmongering attack and slaughter of tens of thousands would come up with something like this now to stem any momentum from a growing anti-bullshit war sentiment? Is there reason to think they wouldn't?

Feels like I've been here before...
