1. I think it's been planned for a while -

plus the new terror alert system in the UK only came into force on 1st August (it would've been too obvious if they brought the system in and then immediatley had a massive terror scare).

2. Perhaps this is part of a greater plan

Joe was a sacrificial lamb - his easy defeat in the primaries and future defeat in November will show that.

However, I really wonder at this point if the Administration is capable of anything. They appear to have burned their bridges with the CIA, FBI and now it seems the GOP.

3. They didn't want to save him!

Lots of people seem to be confusing the issues. He is certainly valuable to them inside, but he is worth far more to them in this current capacity as spoiler and cause celeb for their "Lefty Loonies are gonna kill us all!" meme.

Things are working out just fine. If Joe performs well, he'll be rewarded. But so far, he's making an ass of himself. He doesn't know when to sit down and shut up and late fate take him by the hand.
