| wacky info from Nextel about "terrorists" |
|
I manage a fleet of Nextel phones at my job and I was activating one. We tried to test that walkie-talkie feature that they have and it didn't go through. Then the service rep explained that we were in the New York area and due to a "crisis" all walkie-talkie service was restricted to emergency personnel only. I said "a National Security crisis?" She said "yes. There are 29 terrorists loose and the service will be unavailable until they catch them."
Oddly enough I tested the service again afterwards and it worked for us so I guess we aren't close enough to NYC to be affected.
Isn't that nuts though? 29 terrorists loose? WTF? It's not in the news at all and yet this service rep is in the know? Weird huh? Does anyone in NYC reading this with a nextel phone have walkie-talkie service? Let me know

| 1. Those Nextel idiots tried to sell us their service several years ago |

...instead of us using our own industrial band FM radio. I decided to stick with the radio. Good thing, too, or apparently we'd be knocked off the air (and temporarily out of business) when Bush's ratings got low enough...

that someone at nextel is a loony repug and thought he would do his part...of course in so doing, made himself look like a complete and total idiot.
