"If I had seen this film while I was in Iraq, things would have been much different." --Garett Reppenhagen, Army Sniper and OIF Veteran, Co-Founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War

"Sir! No Sir!" combines exceptional artistry and insightful analysis with great story telling. This is no facile agitprop piece, but a careful dissection of a growing military rebellion that permanently altered American society, but has largely been forgotten." --International Documentary Magazine

"TWO THUMBS UP!" --Ebert & Roeper
"Sir! No Sir!" Can Now Be Yours!

Over the last three months, "Sir! No Sir! The Suppressed Story of the GI Movement to End the War in Vietnam" has played in theaters in over 50 cities, generating excitement, controversy, and rave reviews.

If you have not yet seen this film, you need to see it now. And if you have already seen it, then you know how important it is to make sure your friends, co-workers, neighbors and everyone else sees it! While thousands have already seen it, we now have the opportunity to bring this powerful film to hundreds of thousands, millions of people in every corner of the country.

It's often said that if we do not know our history, we are doomed to repeat it. Help bring new people into the Iraq antiwar movement by giving them the chance to hear from G.I.s themselves why and how they became some of the most outspoken opponents of the Vietnam War.

In response to the many requests made to the filmmakers, a limited edition DVD of "Sir! No Sir!", along with the powerful flash animation by Not Your Soldier and Ruckus Productions, Punk Ass Crusade, is now available for just $19.95, plus shipping and handling. And to sweeten the package, the distributors of the film will make a small donation to United for Peace and Justice for each DVD sold in response to this email and via our website!

From the beginning, word-of-mouth and the internet have been the main ways news of this film has spread. Now we can help spread the word even further. Please send this email out to your own lists and make sure everyone who wants to see an end to the war in Iraq sees this film! Because this film is so relevant to today's antiwar work, the producers are offering DVDs free to people in the military: Click here for details.

At the same time, we encourage you to use the DVD as an outreach and organizing tool.

Step 1: Order the DVD today.

Step 2: Host a gathering to show the DVD. You can do this in your house or apartment, at your school, in a local religious institution or community center, or at a union hall. (Contact UFPJ if you need help planning such an event, or download our house party kit.) Please register your event with us by emailing your event details to [email protected], so that we can send you a code that will enable you to sell DVDs at your event, with a small amount of the proceeds going to support UFPJ.

Step 3: Be sure to get the names and contact information of everyone who shows up when you show the DVD. Add them to your contact list and invite them to future antiwar activities and events.

Step 4: Use the film to support the growing number of soldiers who are resisting the Iraq war! Click here for more information.

As important as this film is -- and we would not be promoting it if we thought otherwise -- we are also offering it for sale because United for Peace and Justice will make a small amount from each DVD sold through the links in this email and on our website. Sales from "Sir!, No Sir!" will help us continue our ongoing work, so we very much hope you will place your order today.

We also encourage you to take a minute to make as generous a donation as you can! They say August is the hardest month to raise money ... and we'd like to prove them wrong. UFPJ has already kicked off our latest drive to expand the peace movement: "We Declare Peace: A Campaign to Turn Up the Heat." As we move into the coming weeks and months of activism, we need a financial foundation we can count on. Your support in the past has made it possible to do so much, and by continuing your support with a gift today, we will be able to make the We Declare Peace campaign as successful as our other actions.

Please take one minute to think about what you can donate: The cost of admission to one movie, or one concert? The cost of one meal in a restaurant? What you would spend on a new novel? Of course, it would be terrific if everyone could send large donations, but what we really need right now is for lots of folks to send whatever amount you can afford. In fact, if each of you reading this message makes a donation of just $20, we will raise enough money to carry us into 2007!

There are several easy ways to give:

1. To join our sustainer program or make a one-time online donation, visit http://www.unitedforpeace.org/donate.

2. If you prefer to donate by credit card over the phone, please call our office at 212-868-5545. (Please note: Online donations and credit card donations made by phone are not tax deductible.)

3. You can also mail a check or money order to:

United for Peace and Justice
Times Square Station
P.O. Box 607
New York, NY 10108

Donations of $100 or more are tax-deductible if your check is made payable to our 501 (c) 3 fiscal sponsor, the A.J. Muste Memorial Institute. Be sure to specify "UFPJ" on the memo line. Mail it to UFPJ at Times Square Station, P.O. Box 607, New York, NY 10108.

Please note: Online donations, credit card donations and donations by check that are less than $100 are not tax-deductible and must be made payable directly to United for Peace and Justice.
