WTF happened with gas prices late last week???
I went on vacation last week. I come home to find gas at $3.15 when it was $2.85 when I left.

Cheapest we saw the whole way back was $2.82.

Got an email from a friend that gas was going up $0.30 on Thur. night and it apparently did. Another 12% or so hike in a much-needed commodity whose price disproportionately affects those of lower and middle incomes than the rich (who are about to get another @#$%#$ tax cut!)

FUCK THE ONE-PARTY FASCISTS in D.C.!!!!

1. No clue...
the prices were steady here, but just a 15 miles south of us, it was over 3 bucks...its been a steady 2.89 here for a while...my guess though, is that somebody needed a new yacht...

2. Oil Companies are milking the situation, whatever the situation truly
Edited on Sun Aug-06-06 06:06 PM by acmavm
is, for everything they can get out of it.

edit: Just a thought but isn't price gouging in a time of 'war' treason? Or some crime.

So, either there is no war, or these guys are committing criminal offenses.

Just my take.

4. I heard the call to fill up before the latest hike. Unfortunately, I
haven't got a dime and couldn't act on the recommendation. I heard - the war/wars, and an "unexpectedly low" reserve for this time of year. Bullshit.

12. Yeah, I know. I had it made before with a big 3 mile commute.
Guess it just means I'll work some OT.

Just pleased on the gas mileage I got on my trip to FL. 34.5 mpg. A lot better than my last car!

18. I could probably squeeze 36 with less luggage and dropping to 65mph
I had the cruise on 71-72 for most of the trip and would turn off the A/C when going up hills.

8. Just for clarification
the oil companies here in America don't rig prices. I know I'm taking the road less traveled but most of the nation's oil is imported. So naturally, when barrel prices rise, the pump rises as well. Oil companies here profit from calamity in the middle east because it makes oil more profitable. That's why they give money to Republicans who want to fight their way through the middle east instead of the democrats who want to talk things over. I blame the impact of big business on our government. We should get rid of all of them on capitol hill.

11. I haven't checked the value of the dollar in the last week.
that's an important factor, too.

And did something major happen in Nigeria or Iraq or Iran other than the usual rhetoric? Nothing I can see. Not even sure what oil is trading at now.

In addition, demand for gasoline and petroleum products has RISEN since last year at this time.

So, for as upset as we all are, we're not changing our behavior at all.

23. Complete and misleading BS to keep us stupid!

The huge oil companies in this world are vertically integrated, that means that they discover, drill, pump, transport, refine, distribute, wholesale and often retail their gasoline. They set the price for the gas at the absolute highest price that they think the driving sheep will pay without starting to bomb their gas stations and refineries and murder the pigs running them, basically.

This reality is reflected in the obscene profits that they are gouging out of the non-complacent, but unimaginative, compliant driving sheep. In a real, actual democracy this refusal to compete on prices would, of course, be a criminal conspiracy. The fact that this is not even an issue indicates where we are now politically.

The USA is a fascist state and the "Seven Sisters"(what's left of them after their "roll-up" or consolidation) are among the corporations now running the country! How does it feel?

Since they completely control all the state and the federal government(s) they are absolutely immune to any other feedback but violence. Sorry but true!

What do you think?

Let's see how long this posting stays on the site, some of my illuminating expositions (IMHO) seem to disappear quickly...

19. The NeoCons/ Republicans wanted Saddam removed
because he was stopping them from raising oil prices. The Repubs got what they wanted -- raising oil prices was all planned.

This needs to be shouted to the world!
