DU Dispatch #1: The Road to Camp Casey
August 4, 2006 4:05pm

While Cindy Sheehan meets today with Iraqi representatives in Jordan, her Camp Casey Coordinator Dede Miller is staying very busy getting the camp ready for the August 6th event. I put a call in to Ms. Miller this morning and she was gracious enough to call me back while taking care of business in Waco this afternoon.

Edit: My apologies to the Mods of DU and LBN. Since I legitimately generated this news story and since it was an exclusive and NOT available on a MSM news source, according to your rules, I felt I was correct in posting it to the LBN forum.

3. UPDATE: Here is Cindy's Latest Dispatch from Amman
Here is an excerpt of the email I just received from Dede Miller about Cindy Sheehan's peace trip to Amman, Jordan:

"While I was still in JFK, an Iraqi gentleman approached me who is now displaced and living in Jordan. He recognized me and was "honored" to meet me and grateful for my work but wanted to convey something to me. He said that while what the peace movement is doing in the US to end the occupation is very gratifying to the people of Iraq, it is "too late" for his country. He said everyone who could leave, has left, and that most of the country is beyond repair. The miraculous Babylon which has been in existence for thousands of years didn't even last three years after the Americans got there. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's dead added to the over million who died during the sanctions...he sadly informed me that the Americans are not stopping the sectarian violence, only encouraging it, in his country and he holds little hope for any future for the land that he was born in and loves." - Cindy Sheehan, Amman, Jordan

I am preparing a follow up to this and will a post a link to it later.
