Sign up for Poverty, etc. Data Training: Aug. 17
The new poverty, income, and health insurance data from the U.S. Census Bureau will be released on August 29. This year, it will have more state and local data than in previous annual surveys - news you can use.
Sign up for a conference call training session, with online visuals and simple explanations of how to find, use, and talk about the data. This training will be especially useful for state or local groups.

Please RSVP by clicking here: http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/organizationsORG/c...
This is important, so we can send you more information and materials.

The details:
Thursday, August 17, 2:00 p.m. Eastern time (11:00 a.m. Pacific, noon Mountain, 1:00 p.m. Central) The training session will last for an hour and a half.

Call: 800 214 0694
Passcode: 274855 Please remember to RSVP

What well cover in the training call:

Exactly where you can find data about child, adult, and family poverty and income, health insurance coverage, numbers of adults who have not finished high school, number of people with disabilities (including school-age), and more for the nation, states, cities and towns over 65,000, and congressional districts.
How to put the new data in context: what are several-year trends, are we seeing as much progress as we should?
How to connect the data to important policy choices, federal and state.
You will hear from experts from the Coalition on Human Needs, Connect for Kids, and Voices for America's Children
Special Update:
This year, although the poverty, income and health insurance data will be released on August 29, certain demographic and social data will be released on August 15. On that day youll be able to find numbers by age and gender, some racial/ethnic breakdowns, family composition, grandparents raising grandkids, disability status by age, immigrant status, English proficiency, and educational attainment. We will send information out about this new data on August 15. To look for it on that day, check the webpage for the American Community Survey, http://www.census.gov/acs/www /
We are very grateful for our collaboration with Connect for Kids, and for support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, without whom this training would not be possible.
