Free camo caps for the first 20,000 chickenhawks...
Have you noticed that major league ballparks are now featuring "Military Appreciation" nights/days?
The stadium gets buzzed with fighter planes - huge American flags are hoisted aloft in center field by whatever military personnel happen to still be in-country (and there aren't many of them) while military bands play the anthem. The A's had a video hookup so A's fans overseas could chat with their families parked in the A's clubhouse. About three people showed up. I guess most are too busy trying to stay alive in George Bush's meatgrinder.
The Kansas City Royals are featuring one of these carnivals this month and the stadium giveaway is a Royals "camo cap". Yes, a baseball cap in full camouflage with the Royals logo stuck on it. Just the thing parents want to give their kids! I mean, Christ on a stick!
If they want to have a TRUE "military appreciation day" then why don't they have recruiters set up at the entrances so these armchair warriors can enlist and let some of the men and women on THEIR THIRD TOUR come home? No, they just hand out camo caps so they can pretend and be play warriors while they pop another cold one! And then let their kids run around like GI Joe when they wouldn't DREAM of letting "their" kids go get blown up in a war they love!
I'm sorry, but shit like this - camo caps! When did baseball games become Nuremberg rallies? - makes my head explode. I'm so bone-weary of the militarization of our society in every single goddamn thing.
