GOP to take DeLay case to Supreme Court
Texas Republicans take DeLay case to Supreme Court

RAW STORY
Published: Thursday August 3, 2006

Texas Republicans plan to appeal a federal court's decision that Tom DeLay is eligible in Texas Congressional District 22, RAW STORY has learned.

The fight will now take the case all the way to the United States Supreme Court.

"The Republican Party of Texas intends to expeditiously appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court," said party Chair Tina Baker in a release, "the 5th Circuit's decision to force Tom DeLay, an ineligible candidate for Congress, to stay on the ballot in Texas Congressional District 22 as the Republican nominee."

13. ... whose ox is being GOREd ... LOL!
Seems like SCOTUS is the "mommy" the Rethugs go running to every time they feel we're not "playing fair." Disgusting, twisted use of the Constitution (if appealing in this case is even Constitutional).

I don't think so. This isn't something that is an across the Country thing, but solated to one State and actually one district!

I think they're just going to say sorry, it's YOR PROBLEM!

7. And The SC Will Rule On It And Say It ONLY APPLIES TO THIS CASE!
And cannot be used as a precedent for any other case, because, well because they said so!

14. I gotta figure the reichbots have already cleared it with Scalia&Co.
Scalia, Roberts, Alito, and Thomas are in (or on) the 'bag.' I'm betting they were 'consulted.'

8. The asshole moved to a different state! what do they expect??
From the article:

DeLay moved to Virginia in April of this year. The U.S. Constitution requires that anyone who serves as a U.S. Representative be an inhabitant of the State he serves when elected.

:wtf:

This is beyond stupid.

But undoubtedly old Hot Tub Tom will receive a most sympathetic hearing of his case from his friends on the Court.

16. Snort
They haven't done too well in the SC. Their redistricting got slapped down as racist. So to make it up, they've come up with an even MORE racist plan, which they pitched to a Texas court today. I'm willing to bet they lose both cases.

18. Dear Uncle Tony,
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 03:54 PM by SoCalDem
Please work your magic again ..The democrats are being mean.. I needed to be in the primary so people would send me money.... I need that money to pay those "trial lawyers"...but I never really planned to actually stay in the race..and now they are trying to make me stay in it even after I quit my job and ran away.. (they keep talking about some dumb law or something)

Please make them stop.. Tell Texas to take my name off the ballot.. I have enough money already and I have a better gig.

Love ,
Tom,
aka...The Bugman
