Israel drops flyers on south Beirut, warns of extended bombing

08.03.2006, 01:51 PM

BEIRUT (AFX) - Israeli planes dropped flyers on south Beirut close to the international airport, warning that bombing of the area would be extended and urging civilians to leave, an AFP correspondent reported.

'The Israeli army intends to expand its operations in Beirut,' said one of the flyers dropped on the mainly Shiite suburbs in the Lebanese capital's south.

Convoys slowed by road, aerial hazards

The Washington Times

BEIRUT -- Aid convoys continue to face difficulties reaching devastated villages in southern Lebanon, with hazards including heavy traffic, cratered roads and the threat of aerial assault by Israelis.

But getting boxes of basic supplies to the families who need it remains difficult, especially now that the ground war has expanded.

About 100,000 people are still trapped in southern Lebanon, according to the Red Cross, though thousands have made their way to Sidon or farther north in the past few days.

Aid officials estimate there are 25,000 people still in Tyre and its suburbs, 40,000 Palestinians living in designated refugee camps and 35,000 scattered in villages all the way to the Israeli border.

3. The aggressors must blame the VICTIMS!
The Israeli spokesman just said on Fox that he doesn't see the UN acting on an agreement for ceasefire until next week. Every time one of them speaks they keep moving the date further and further away. Why is Israel controlling the UN?

In the interim people in Lebanon are dying and suffering. Who has the guts to stand for peace in Lebanon?
