Poll question: On a scale of 1 to 10: How tense are you about the world right now?
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 09:27 AM by DistressedAmerican
I'm feeling it. Big time. I'd say something like an 8 or 9 myself.

You?

Sorry, polls are turned off at Level 3.

5. I voted a 2...
Relatively speaking, the world's in as shaky a state as always, and we always manage to keep going.

6. It is all the same old same old - the difference is we do not have a Presi
President. The person in charge not only does not help - he hurts anything his jinxed little hands touch.

That - IMHO - is what is endangering us in a way that we - as a nation and part of the world - have never been in before.

While not affected personally by this idiotic administration, I feel great empathy for those who are.

A lot of dumb sh*t has happened to our World on the Bush Watch, and the World is noticing it too.

8. I am stressed about the Wars.
The wars bother me a lot. War does away with the law and the ten commandments. Truth is the first victim, they say.

When I see dead children I want to call the police or the government to stop the slaughter, but they are the ones doing it.

Knowing more young men's and women's lives will be lost today, as yesterday, bothers me.

War is ruthless and primitive and should be avoided except as a last resort. This rush to war bothers me a 10 and so do those who embrace it.

I feel like we are being pulled over to the dark side. I would say "God forgive them, for they know not what they do." But they do know.

I am not worried about my own death, but I am worried about life in America and the world and how it is being altered by the Bush gang.

Sorry if this is a dark, but Bushites and war are dark subjects.

Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 10:06 AM by chaumont58
I was an adult during the 1962 Cuban Missile crisis. I never thought the Cold War would end, much less how it did end. Without the US and the USSR standing toe to toe with 20,000 nuclear weapons cocked and ready to fire, I just can't get too excited by regional conflicts. Maybe, I'm blind, but this is how I see what I can see.

12. A scary little known fact
We still have and Russia still has bombs pointed at each other. They did do away with a lot of them though, but never all of them.

What worries me is the whole world has been BUSHED in one way or another and we have a lot of mad enemies. We tried not to push Russia's buttons, but we are pushing buttons in the Mid East big time.

Iran has just spoken out. The Bushites/Israelites have succeeded in dragging Iran into it.

Because I am on SSI. The rethug fuckers want to shut down medicaid. They want to dismantle the social safety net and kill off the disabled and poor.I am a target. If I was a middle class normal,or richer I would have less to fear. I know the rich will not feel a pinch until the poor, the disabled and the middle class are pinched beyond hope. And when you look at how middle class people rally in true NIMBY fashion to keep the homeless shelters away,I know they could care less about people like me.The upper crusties the wealthy the middle and working class all hate people on the dole like me. Disabled and poor I am the useless eater. So yeah I voted 8 because I feel a big target on my back. And it's only a matter of time before I get culled. And sadly considering how fast poverty issues sink in this forum,I know it will come to pass.Alot of middle class people are gonna have to taste poverty before they care about people like mme.
And by time that happens I might be dead. oR in some work prison,or some other horror show the bushes want to do to make this country into the feudal empire they want..

19. The middle class is Bushed too
They are hitting the middle class. We are told that we will need $300,000 just for health care after retirement. Yet they passed a bankruptcy law that will prevent us from going bankrupt if we get hit with huge medical bills. If they give you state or federal aid they will take it out of your estate after you die. Our children wont inherit anything.

Anymore, elections are all about tricking voters into voting, then ignoring them and listening to the lobbyists. They dont lie, but with the help of the lap dog media they dont have to, because they dont have to answer questions that arent asked. They let politicians slide with one liners that could mean anything.

For instance, Bush on TV only said he would fix Social Security, when in reality he wants to gradually dismantle it so his Wall street friends can get profits from our retirement. He wants to throw Social Security to the markets. The insurance companies and brokerage houses lobbyists are donating big bucks to our senators and congressmen. We will be forced to buy non inheritable annuities, life insurance, disability insurance and put money in the stock market. Bush planned to cut the benefits for all except the poorest beneficiaries for retirement. The reason he said not to cut the poorest beneficiaries is because they arent getting enough to survive already. He didnt mention what would happen with SSI disability. If it was good he would have mentioned it.

They have never given up on privatizing Social Security, they are working behind the scenes, waiting for the perfect time. They are running up the deficit so it will be impossible to pay the Social Security surplus back.

The only thing we can do is vote Democrat, they want to really save SS and demand they do right by Social Security. Get as many as you can to vote. And dont think that all the Republicans are wrong except yours. Vote them out and get stability back.

27. The middle class was protected from this
This situation has impacted the poor way before it hit the middle class. And when it was poor people suffering the middle class did not care. Now the middle class feels the pinch and they still act like shit heads when a homeless shelter is proposed. Why? These fuck heads need to realize they are one hospital bill away from a homeless shelter themselves. yet they still shut out the poor playing NIMBY.

Why?

It's so easy to kick those weaker to the curb, while brown nosing the wealthy thugs robbing you I guess.

I have trouble pitying rich people.
And the middle class better wake the fuck up and bite their masters hands today before they too are as poor as the people they disdain tomorrow.

The wealthy class robs all the classes below themselves. The market is a big Ponzi scam .And the idea of wealthy people deserve wealth is a big lie that keeps people deprived scared of poverty and working for the wealthy without questioning the whole set up..

16. While I'm not worked up into a tizzy
I'm a far cry from at ease.

Let's face it. The US is being led by a pack of warmongers and they have some pretty lethal toys. Also, they are incapable of understanding the concept of diplomacy, which I suppose is alright with them since they don't have any use for it anyway.

And these neocon nutcases are currently treating the middle east as if it's their own personal sandbox. Be damned anyone who gets in their way.

Yeah, things could be better...

18. For 40 years...
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 10:47 AM by Texas Explorer
I have marveled at my absolute freedom to do whatever I wanted within the observance of legitimate laws designed to keep us safe from each other.

When I would get on an airplane headed to another part of the country or to vacation in Mexico; or when I would get into my car to go anywhere; or the fact that I could go to the grocery to buy food and supplies; or when I would go to church; I would take a deep breath, heavily intoxicated by the sweet smell of freedom.

I am afraid that, for me and the rest of the American middle class, time is short if we don't do something about it NOW!

I'm very stressed. And if we lose in November, we lose the middle class.

21. Only the rich retire early in BushWorld
What good is Freedom if you don't have the money to do anything? And you have to work til the day you go to the rest home?

The wars and financial attacks on the middle class and poor are stressors. I won't even mention the inflation and loss of value of the dollar has cut our buying power in half.

26. Yeah...
I think I'm gonna hang around the lounge for a while, maybe hit the hookah. GD is hairy as hell and yes, the "Tiny Dancer" stage is in full swing, and the only thing that can get me through it is some loud music and maybe a female-assisted head scratch. You know how when you turn a toad over and rub its belly, it goes catatonic? Yeah, I would be that toad...

It's tense, but I have seen it alot worse in my lifetime... there was a time when a nuclear exchange with the USSR was possible over the middle east...

And I was 2 years old during the Cuban Missile Crisis if that counts!
