34. Maybe You Aren't Seeing My Point. I'm Debating If This Pic Is Even Real
Since it is illegal to do it, and it would've had to have been removed immediately, part of me doubts the authenticity of it to begin with. I want to believe it's real though, as I'd agree with the rest that it would be the best 'freeway blogger' type sign I've seen to date, and would be absolutely awesome. I just don't want to be a sucker is all.

It would take a while to be noticed but someone who disagrees. Those who agree would conveniently not see it in the dark.

Since it's a banner, I'm not sure of the legal implications under the UCMJ. Property wasn't defaced or damaged, so the patriot might be ok, but subject to other forms of retribution.

All in all, it's ballsaliscious!

52. IIRC, that charge only applies to Officers...
The word was the difference between an Officer and a Warrant Officer is that an Officer is comissioned as an Officer and a Gentleman, a Warrant Officer is only comissioned an Officer. Enlisteds have no real conduct rules, other than don't ask don't tell. I mean an enlisted being drunk and disorderly, would be charged D&D, an officer would be charged both D&D and conduct unbecomming, which is essentially a catch-all charge.

43. Remember these guys?
The KBR employees that were burned and dragged through the streets? Not everyone who signed up to work for Halliburton/KBR is happy over there.

3 truckers among 4 KBR employees murdered in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq —Three of the four Houston-based Halliburton's KBR subsidiary employees murdered in Iraq on Sept. 20 were truck drivers. One of the truckers was doused with petroleum and burned alive by Sunni Arab civilians, including a number of children.

The four were slain after their convoy took a wrong turn into a town north of Baghdad and was attacked by a mob, according to published reports citing a senior U.S. military official.

The incident occurred in the town of Duluiyah about 45 miles from Baghdad. The initial report was issued Oct. 22 by Britain's Daily Telegraph and was confirmed by the unidentified senior U.S. military commander.

No explanation was given as to why the military didn’t reporting the deaths earlier. At the same time, Halliburton questioned the details of the story. A company spokesman said three KBR employees died Sept. 20, but the fourth killing was not acknowledged. http://www.thetrucker.com/showstory.aspx?id=10288

And then there are these disgruntled employees, or should I say, these disgruntled decoys:

"We feel that the most effective way to influence what Halliburton is doing in Iraq and to the American taxpayers is to inform their employees, prospective employees and investors about the conduct of the company in Iraq and Kuwait. They talk a lot about “pride” in what they are doing in their ad campaigns, but they don’t talk about misleading and intimidation of employees in Iraq. There is a lot of shady behavior that the company partakes in here and in Iraq.” said Scott Parkin of Houston Global Awareness, the group organizing the protest.

Within recent weeks, family members of Halliburton/KBR employees killed in Iraq have filed a wrongful death class action lawsuit against the company for "systematically, intentionally, and fraudulently " deceiving and failing to protect them. They are particularly angry that a poorly guarded convoy of 19 truck drivers was sent on April 9, 2004 as an apparent 'decoy' on the most dangerous road in Iraq. After an intense 2 hour gun battle, only 11 of the drivers arrived at their destination where they learned that the fuel they had carried was not even needed -- six others were killed, one kidnapped who escaped, and one is still missing. They claim that their family members were lured by "$100K tax free" salaries and claims that they would be well-protected by military escorts, Halliburton truck drivers instead found themselves paid $16 per hour, sent out on highest alert days, even along roads labeled by the US military as "DO NOT TRAVEL".

Another Halliburton/KBR employee, Ronald Chavez of Houston, was severely beaten on Easter Sunday by 8 co-workers and abandoned on the streets of Baghdad for dead after complaining about poor security and massive corruption. Chavez is now in Baghdad hospital awaiting transfer to Germany. Not only do Halliburton/KBR workers face danger as a result of the occupation, but also are overly exposed to danger through their employer's misleading propaganda, negligence and corruption. http://users2.ev1.net/~geosynch/pressOpen.html

The KBR grunts have plenty to be pissed about.

70. My brother's ex-girlfriend signed up with KBR
after she got canned at Sprint. They offered her 100K for a one year contract to help set-up computer networks for the military. She was desperate enough for money (having been out of work at the point for a couple of years) that she signed up and went. She's back, she doesn't want to talk about it and she's drinking heavily. We haven't seen her for over two years. She's a basket case. She's holed up and is afraid of almost every one. Her family can't even talk to her anymore. That was what I based my comment on. However, apparently I was wrong. According to some other Du'ers, she's rolling in the dough and quite happy. In fact, I'm not sure why she came back. I'm sure it was just heaven for her. Maybe she's just having a 24/7 party with all that money she made.

They usually get drunk in the officers club (why there is an officers club). Not saying they do not agree or could not agree with the enlisted men. Been there (similar situation) done that.

56. Yes they spoke out after they retired and were out of the promotion cycle.

My experience was Vietnam, the officers on one hand knew this was a useless war was not winnable but those I knew kept quiet. Yes there were exceptions like John Kerry who spoke out after he left the Navy. Speaking out took almost as much courage as riding his Swift Boat.

An example I knew an Artillery adviser whose South Vietnamese men went into a weeks mourning after Ho Chi Min died. After three tours in Vietnam that officer woke up but only shared his story where he knew he was safe.

I was more in the protest mode and agreed with the protesters. In short I would have encouraged that sign and probably ended up in the Brig or the officers club to get drunk. Bush is beyond dumb in another era would have ordered the charge of the the Light Brigade, only he thinks on a much more grand scale and drags an entire nation along(including his British poodle).

I found this article which somewhat illustrates the problem. Bush, Cheney should be impeached and much of the administration should be prosecuted for war crimes. It seems though only the Grunts and maybe a few junior officers get blamed in Iraq much the same as happened in Vietnam.

49. That is the work of some brave folk.
First, the climb on a live radar mast is not very safe. High voltage, microwave radiation and whatever the heck else in the electromagnetic spectrum is flying out of the various antennae and dishes.

Second, attaching the banner without being caught requires speed and precision. A nightime job with no lights requires special goggles and all, making it all the much harder.

Third, stating the Truth in a time of Treason requires the utmost in bravery. Then, I repeat myself.

That banner is the work of real PATRIOTS.
May God Bless our Troops and ALL they protect.

He spoke up a couple months ago when Rummy and Bush stated Iran had provided IEDs in Iraq. Pace said at a press conference with Rummy present that the information was "unconfirmed."

Rummy glowered, but said nothing further on the subject.
