Familiar with the Story of Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Tim Walz?
Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 06:17 PM by The Whiskey Priest
CSM Walz is a twenty-four year old veteran of the Army National Guard. He is also a high school teacher and football couch.

In 2004, he had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, when Bush showed up at Walz’s hometown, Mankato Minnesota. Walz thought it would be a good teaching experience, so he arranged to take a couple of his students to hear the commander-in-chief speak.

The bus picked up Walz and the students to take them to the rock quarry where GW was to speak. After go through metal detectors and having their tickets taken, Walz and the students were informed that they would not be allowed in, seems one of the students had a John Kerry sticker on his wallet.

Walz was furious; he informed them “that as a solider he had the right to hear his commander-in-chief.” He was then subjected to a rigorous interrogation…and evidently allowed to enter only after being warned he better behave himself—but his students were not allowed to attend and they were sent home.

That is not the end of the story: Walz has now declared his candidacy as a Democrat for Congress.

The above is a summary of a great article in February issue of Atlantic Monthly. The subject of the article is all of the Iraq veterans that are now running for congress as Democrats.

2. CSM's are damned close to gods...
and picking on one was a mistake...at most posts CSM's are awarded MUCH more respect than mere O-5's (Lt Colonel) army style...

14. Just like Command Master Chiefs in the Navy -- they have the
ear and the respect of the Commanding Officer. They are the representative for every enlisted man on a base, post, or ship.

They fucked with the wrong guy.

How scared are these pricks? A kid has a John Kerry sticker on his wallet and they refuse to let him listen to the chimpster? They are cowards -- all of them.

"Oh Boo Hoo...that boy has a John Kerry sticker. He might be mean to Shrubby and make him cry."

4. Well, that one student was obviously a threat to security
It could've caused a riot if folks found out that there was actually a time when the repubs did NOT want someone reaching for his wallet.

;)

6. CSM Walz is a twenty-four year old veteran of the Army National Guard.
He has to be the youngest CSM in the Army.

7. Great story...one little nit...
This guy sounds really super but it's hard to believe he's done all that and is still only 24 years old. ;-)

(if someone can make CSM that fast...then there is no doubt that they are God.)

13. I remember reading about that
on DU when it happened..what a Silver Lining to that repression of Democracy by the bushits.

I can't imagine what they thought they were accomplishing by keeping anyone who looked like a Kerry supporter AWAY from the chimp. They're too stupid for words..looks like their Karma is rearing its Ugly Head.
