WASHINGTON, DC --- A lot of drama surrounded the crying wife of Samuel Alito during intense questioning by Democrats this week. However, closer observation revealed that the crying individual was actually Senator Barbara Boxer, who was watching the proceedings amongst the rest of the crowd.

"I'm sorry for any confusion this might have caused," said a tearful Boxer. "I began to realize that Alito was going to be confirmed, and that Bush was going to win again. And the tears just started flowing. I was afraid of coming forward sooner to correct the story, because I was embarrassed to be caught on camera crying for the 43rd time in just over a year. These have been tough times for me lately. I'm just very emotional."
