Wonkette Named Washington Editor For Time.com

Former Wonkette editor Ana Marie Cox was today named Washington Editor for Time.com, effective July 31, 2006. Said Time managing editor Richard Stengel: "Ana Marie is a sharp and witty observer of the Washington scene and has the ability to spot political angles in surprising places." Cox, who made her name at Wonkette using language that presumably will never find its way to Time.com, has been a contributing columnist for the magazine's website since March 2006. She also last year published "Dog Days," a novel about Washington politics and campaigning.

7. Not an Ana fan. I love snark with the best of them but I expect it

to be well written, funny snark. Ana seems way more impressed with herself than situations warrant. To me, she has reached the "status" of Matt Drudge - questionably amusing in a "good grief why am I reading this swill" kind of a way. I don't expect great things for her at Time - I'm thinking she is in way over her head. Maybe she can call Condi and get a few pointers on surviving in a job where you are totally clueless.
