ONE death has affected me terribly. F*CK war and neocons.
Edited on Thu Jul-27-06 02:02 AM by The Straight Story
When my mom died I went to pieces. Made several videos of her and have been battling depression since 12/31/2004.

http://www.toddhowell.com/mom.html

How many more people have been through hell because of our insanity? Lost kids, parents, brothers, sisters, etc and so on?

I don't care to run against bush, I want to run against repugs in toto - and their hellish agenda of death and war. And screw dems who enable neocons by playing it safe. Don't contribute to killing and depression of thousands upon thousands of people. Stand up and fight this mess.

We either stand against this crap or we are helping in promoting it and enabling it. Thank the Lord I can come here on DU and talk to sane people who hate war. I don't think ALL war is bad (hell, hitler needed a good ass kicking) but it should damn well be the last resort and only in defense.

So you proud neocons who are happy our folks and their folks are dying each day can go fuck yourselves. War dosen't just kill some people - it ruins the lives and mental health of tons of other people.

I miss you mom.

1. probably the toughest thing in all of life is losing your mom....
...whether it's expected or unexpected, whether you got along or didn't....there's nothing that hurts like losing your mom.

Been there, man.
my sympathy.

2. A Sad Video
Sorry to hear about your mom.

Here is a video on the war in Lebanon- note the 1st quote it oculdve come straight out of Hitlers mouth

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCLGIWA3WXQ

Have a look at the photo of a young kid in red holding his mum, imagine yourself in his shoes if that was your mother- you or her have committed no crime and now you say your final goodbyes, forever.

3. Word up to that
This killing going on in the world is just insane. A few in power turn the many against each other and sit back in safety while others go about the war.

bush needs to get his ass in uniform and go to the front lines if he feels so strongly about our wars.

4. We have only one Mother....
I am forever grateful

That I have had mine for all these years

She caught me cussing, smoking, drinking, f***ing, coming back from Vietnam and acting crazy, and everything else and loved me, with no reservations...

6. Parents are, in an odd sense, like 'god' to us (see details:)
We were created by two beings, in a moment of passion/love. They bring us into the world and if we are as lucky as I was they take care of us and love us dearly.

The death of my mom was like a massive earthquake. It shook me to my foundation. And I am but one person out of billions - and such death of loved ones is being replicated by war, pollution, etc by assholes the world over (not just the US).

The people of the world outnumber the idiot leaders by a huge margin. Someday I hope the people wake up and toss out the idiots and work for peace. A dream I know, but a better dream then the hellish dreams conjured up by the sucky leaders of many countries.

Pain and suffering seem the norm - when no one likes it or wants it. How can this be?

10. That is what makes us Us
We have, collectively, lost billions of Mothers.

But each and every one of us loses only One.

But unfortunately, the fools are in the majority.

You, me, your Mother, and mine deserve better.

5. So sorry.
Lesson of life. When those we love have to leave us, they expect us to go on.
Learning to grieve and as you wear your grief find yourself some activity that allows you to go on, but always keep them in your heart. That empty spot will always be there. You have to eventually fill it with something to give your strength.

7. Thank you, and it was much more than that all at once I think
Mom's best friend dying, then several other close friends and neighbors dying. Then the X wife, and kids I had not seen in 8 years calling me upset at me for it (?) - but now I have interacted with them and my 20 yr old son lives with me, etc and so on.

For two years I have been hammered with deaths and bad news. Things seem to be turning the corner. But as I sat here watching a video I made for mom I could not help but wonder how many others our country has put into the same situation. It is no wonder the mental health of the world is in shambles...

15. That hole in your heart
I do believe that the ache or hole in your heart is what happens when a whole human being is finding its way in, making herself at home there.

My grief turned a corner when I realized that the pain I felt was a type of gratitude for having been lucky enough to have such great parents. I told myself, "If you feel pain, be grateful." You, and I, were given a great, great gift. She'll be there with you in her essence, giving you words of wisdom and perspective and even comfort if you let her, for the rest of your life.

:hugs:

And thanks for your post. It's a great one.

8. Your Mom was beautiful...
I watched your video, I can't tell you how much it moved me, you could feel the love in your Mother. There is not a day goes by that I don't miss my mom & it has been 30 years. I do have faith that I will see her again. My heart is with you & I hate all that is going on in the world too.

9. When the first black family moved into the hood
She baked them a cake with our neighbor and took it to them. Others moved out and were all upset.

She was nice to everyone, even if she did not like you personally she was always there to help you out.

She was kind and good to many people - and I thank the Lord she was here for 70 years. I am thankful some dumb ass war did not take her from this world sooner. And I am sad that so many have lost loved ones to hellish wars.

The human race has continually hurt itself. We don't need the devil to lead us astray - we have our own stupid issues that keep us going.

The good people keep dying so the bad people can party on. When is bush and cheney going to the front lines to defend us? If it is that important why aren't they out there with guns and crappy armor fighting those evil Iraqis?

11. What a beautiful lady.
You were very fortunate to have her in your life, and I'm certain that she must have felt the same about you.

It makes one wonder what kind of relationship the NeoCons have or had with their mothers? It's hard to imagine healthy relationships producing the kind of psychotic and delusional madmen we see in Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. Actually, we know for a fact that Bush's relationship with his mother is screwed up, given that she went out golfing with Poppy Bush the day after Dubya's sister died.

What a difference a kind, caring mom can make in her childrens' lives vs. a callous, cruel or indifferent mother.

17. Thank you for bringing to all of us what really matters in life

Everyone in the ME, whatever side, is in pain.

I can't even imagine how much pain.

My Mom will be 88 in two weeks and she is such a gift.
Blessings to you and your family.

20. Thanks for the reply, and indeed
it seems all the people in the ME are in pain. No matter which side one falls it all seems to hurt.

I cannot imagine the psychological nightmare so many in this world are suffering through. And all for what???

19. Sorry for your loss :(
It does leave a hole in the heart - and comfort comes in the little things for me at times.

I still find myself wanting to pick up the phone and call her :(

It does get better. My dad is 70 though and still misses his mom who passed back in the 80's.

If you get down, shoot me an email and I can send you my phone #.
