2. I wonder if all 83 people who died were sick or very old and
simply couldn't handle the heat...or were some put in unnessary danger because of the utility companies inability to provide promised service?

I think all the untility executives have pocketed the BIG bucks and did not properly maintain their infracture. Now it fails, but I sure bet it didn't fail in the homes of those execs!

8. I heard that in San Diego the elecrical wires couldn't handle the load
because they were the CHEAPER aluminum rather than copper, so they melted from the heat induced by increased current. Don't know if anybody died down there.......

4. This should not be happening in the US.---letting people die because
they are elderly (most were according to an article posted earlier on DU)--
there is little 'community" left in America.

7. It hit 117 in Lakeside (San Diego); hottest I've seen in 50 years.
Used to be the only place in California that got so hot was Death Valley.

Global warming is cooking us all.
