New Field Poll gives Arnold an 8-point lead in California
The Field Poll is considered independent and usually accurate, so that's not so great, but on the other hand Arnold is still well under 50%. He leads 45-37 percent. Apparently he just got done with a massive TV ad buy as well.

6. Easy. Take two Dem candidates slinging muck at each other in the primary
Add a month of no campaigning by the winner of said primary.

Add $12 mil in ads by the Republican incumbent governor using the campaign mud slinging

Bingo!
