Poll question: Is "Support Israel" the new "Support the Troops" - ?
Edited on Tue Jul-25-06 09:54 AM by Skip Intro
The politicians and the pundits and all the chatterboxes that parrot talking points seem over the top in proclaiming "support for Israel." It reminds me, in a way, of the "support the troops" meme in its heyday, when it seemed every person with a microphone or a car bumper felt compelled to conspicuously declare and proclaim their "support for the troops" - as if they were in deep fear of being branded as someone who didn't "support the troops." Whatever the hell that meant anyway.

Its like de ja vu all over again, now, with people on tv knocking each other over to proclaim their unquestioning "support for Israel," almost competing to out-do each other in some contest of who supports Israel the most. Very reminiscent of the "Support the troops" fever at its height.

So this poll isn't really about if you do or don't support Israel and/or the current actions, but rather, stepping back for a second and listening and looking at all those who make it their business to try to shape your opinion - has "support Israel" become the new "support the troops?" The new label to wear that's all the rage? The new, real test of just how good an American you are?

3. Some punctuation would help clarify what you're trying to say.
Depending where it's placed, the meaning could change pretty drastically.

"What, we have no feelings for our own troops in Iraq?" vs "What we have, no feelings for our troops in Iraq."

I think you meant the former?

4. Bush co wants WWIII and will use Israel's conflicts for an excuse.
Russia and China will side with the Iranians. Bush is totally insane.
