Family says West Allis man was shot in Iraq

Associated Press

WAUWATOSA, Wis. - A West Allis man who worked for the energy company Halliburton was transferred to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa during the weekend after being shot in Iraq, members of his family say.

Winlom Woods, 32, was shot in the head by a sniper last week, said Tanya Woods of West Allis, the injured man's former wife.

He was listed in critical condition Sunday night at Froedtert, the family members said.

Halliburton officials told the family that a bullet from an AK-47 rifle passed through Woods' right ear before lodging in his brain, said Anita Shaw of Milwaukee, the man's aunt.

8. I remember way back when...
ear shots and eye shots were talked about over beer and joints at night.

I caught a guy taking a leak in a paddy in Quang Tri one day at about 200 yards.

I will never forget the image of that dude running, looking at his crotch and waving his arms around like a crazy person.

I am probably going to Hell for that one.

10. My friend. Do not let those memories consume you, as I have let my
memories consume me tonight.

Just don't, OK? We have lives to live, and must NOT let our past consume us. Do that one thing for me.

13. Hey, consumption is mine...
Wine and the best that Humboldt has to offer.

That mental picture still brings me a chuckle, sick mofo that I am.

The only thing about my past that consumes me is, "What in the Hell did I do with all of that money?".

Thank you for your thoughts and concern, Redstone.

14. You're welcome. It was $1500 per month for me, which was damn
good money in 1972.

But let us both go with peace unto this night. We can always take up the fight again tomorrow.

15. Roger.
But I don't know about leaving the fight until tomorrow.

They will kill you while you sleep.

9. Especially when they're taking a shit. Sorry for sounding like an ass
myself, but I know. I know what you mean. Is there any worse terrorist than a sniper? Probably not, and that's something every sniper spends the rest of his life dealing with. A guy just goes out in the morning for a squat, and then he's gone.

Sorry, my friend, but dealing with the PTSD (which I should have but don't, for the most part) (and that she does, and deservedly so) is tough, sometimes, to deal with.)

So here I am. Sleep is not an option.

Thanks for listening. I owe you a PM.

So I guess his rifle would be a "Sniper's Rifle".

But, as someone who has shot at people, I definitely get your point.

12. What you said. Better that you and I let this thread go for the night,
isn't it? It can only lead to nightmares. And we don't need any more of those, do we?

I already had a half-hour's worth, and that was enough. Going to drink until sleep comes, now.

7. Since Halliburton does PR.
I feel bad for the guy, but I wouldn't take a Halliburton job, even stateside.

11. No. The AK is not and will never be a sniper rifle. It's not accurate for
shit at anything apporaching long range. All I'm going to say about that, this is.
