Israel running low on bombs, U.S. to step up delivery
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=944d928abcae1a22

The Bush administration is rushing a delivery of precision-guided bombs to Israel, which requested the expedited shipment last week, American officials said Friday.

The New York Times in a report Friday, quoting U.S. officials, said the decision to quickly ship the weapons to Israel was made with relatively little debate within the Bush administration.

Israel has been engaged in heavy bombardment of the Palestinian occupied territories since July, and began a saturation campaign against Lebanon on July 12, destroying bridges, roads, the Beirut International Airport, other airports, ports, and power stations. More than 350 Lebanese have been killed by the airstrikes, nearly all of them civilians. The Health Ministry said Sunday night the number of people displaced has grown to 750,000.

The Bush administration decision flies in the face of its own accusations that Iran is supplying weapons to Hezbollah, a charge Iran vehemently denies.

It also points to U.S. collaberation with Israel over its plans, its lack of urgency in dealing with the crisis, and its reluctance to consider a ceasefire.

2. When it comes to weapons of civilian destruction, you can count on US.
That should be printed on our money.

3. Did the same thing in 1973
when the Israelis took an unexpected beating at the beginning of the Yom Kippur War, Nixon saved Golda Meir with a quick airlift.

7. Those munitions alone were not the differenece in the 1973 wat
It also gave us leveerage to stop Israel from destroying an Egyptian army they had pinned against the Suez canal and from going into Damacus.

5. So you don't see a difference between an agreement for
arms sales between two legitimate national governments and the supplying of arms to an illegal militia in defiance of a UN resolution>

8. Hezbollah lack of legitimacy does change things
That there are casualties on both sides does not make them equivalent.

10. Sorry, not for me
Only for the self-righteous. Who decides who is legitimate and who is not? The end result -- the death of civilians -- is the same. In this instance the "legitimate" traders in death have killed more civilians in this conflict than the "illegitimate" ones. The child torn to shreds doesn't give a rat's ass about whether the bomb was legitimate or not. She's still dead.

11. Bombs don't cost $1M each
The most expensive cruise missile out there does not cost that much. Basic bombs (as in no fuses or tail kit) are under $5K. LGB kits and GPS kits are less than 10K a apiece. Your friend lied to you.
