Religion is like a pie. Which slice do you want?
We all live on this earth, a huge ball of mass hurtling through the heavens. We truly are all one, all bozos on this bus, all together. We need water, food, futures for our children. God, or religion is like a pie; Christians have a pretty big slice,so do Muslims, Jews, Buddhists. Then each one is sliced again, Christianity into Baptists, Fundamentalists, Catholics, Prods, and endless sectarian varieties. The same holds true for the other religions, as far as I can tell. What I am say is: I DON'T WANT A SLICE OF THE PIE! I WANT THE WHOLE PIE! That's why I'm not religious. Religion divides that which is whole.

2. Depends on what religion you're talking about
Lakota people say all things are sacred.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama compared Buddhism and Sufism this way:
"In Buddhism, nothing is. In Sufism, everything is. Same thing, no difference."

I'll be glad for you to have the whole pie, for that means we both have the whole thing.

14. Ho Metaquiatsun!
All things are sacred, all things interconnected. May you learn your lessons in a good way, as we say at the end of prayers in the inipi (sweatlodge ceremony).

11. This I like. And I'm a Christian!
I think the names and divisions the OP mentioned are the problem, not necessarily religion itself. In my view, if a particular type of worship brings you closer to God, and closer to your fellow people, then that's the good one for you. And if the one that works for you is different from the one that works for me -- that's fine, too. Or perhaps none work for you -- still ok by me, so long as treating others well part is still there.

It's the need to define a group to which you belong that can get people in trouble. That cliquey thing is trouble. Because so long as you're "in", someone else has to be "out".

13. Yes
My husband and I lead the Dances of Universal Peace several times a month. These dances honor all spiritual traditions, and help folks to understand that we are all One. It is a beautiful experience to be doing a dance with a rabbi holding hands with an imam who is holding hands with a nun, all singing "Peace be with you" in Hebrew, Arabic, and Latin.

4. NO PIE FOR YOU!!
Anyone who tries to shove their flavor of pie down another's throat deserves no pie at all.

Religion is the basis of war. Period. I'm about ready to start a campaign to outlaw all religion!!! I'm sick of this shit.

God needs to come down here and see what a load of crap he started. Then he needs to slap the hell out of a bunch of people.

12. Taoism says the pie that can be sliced is not the true pie.
Homer says, "Mmmmmm. Floor pie."
