How low we have fallen - letter from Gen. Franks for donations for wounded
Today I got a letter from Gen. Tommy Franks asking for donations to help the wounded from the Iraq invasion. The donation is to help them and their families pay for their rent, car payments, phone bills, buy food, career counseling, job training and job hunting. Exactly how many veterans benefits did out "support the troops" repub party cut? Time to go out of Iraq.

"It was my privilege to command the brave men and women who fought in the war against Saddam Hussein in 2003. I couldn't be prouder of their heroism and dedication to duty.

Having served in combat in both Vietnam and the first Gulf War, I know what it's like to put your life on the line for your country. Although I was wounded in Vietnam, I thank God I was not permanently disabled and that I'm able to lead a normal life.

Sadly, that's not true for so many of our veterans who were wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of them will be in wheelchairs for the rest of their lives. Others have lost limbs or eyes or were seriously burned or suffered other injuries and will never be the same as they were before the war.

One of my saddest memories is how my fellow Vietnam veterans were forgotten when they returned home. It was especially tragic for those who were severely wounded, many of whom wondered if their sacrifice was worth it.

That's why I'm so grateful for Salute America's Heros and the great work they are doing in support of our veterans.

Pleas help SAH provide assistance to these hospitalized and wounded servicemen and women to whom we owe so much by sending a generous contribution today.

I'm counting on you because our wounded veterans are counting on us.

PS. There were there for us. Now it's our turn to be there for them."

1. Why in the fuck doesn't that goddamn war criminal go to
Halliburton and the Carlyle Group. If fact why doesn't he suggest a profit sharing plan for our wounded veterans from these two war profiteering buddy's of the prez.

Screw Tommy Franks!

2. repubs are so far gone in their theory of gov. being worthless
that they can't envision "being there" with tax dollars for those who "were there for us".

Freedom isn't free, but it is a voluntary cost. Disgusting.

5. This is owned by Becki Donatelli whose email goes to
campaignsolutions.com which is a political campaign place for repubs.

Looks like the repubs are trying to save money by getting the public to donate to important things instead of the government putting in the money - like Katrina and now the veterans. Maybe they could do this with the war effort. Take all the money away congress gave them and go after charity. That way people can put their money where their mouth is.
