U.S. Evacuation Gets Off to Stuttering Start
:(

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-eva...

Waiting around Beirut with bags packed and fingers crossed, U.S. citizens derided the embassy for busy phone lines, an exasperating lack of information, and gnawing uncertainty over when and whether they will get out. Hundreds were expected to be shipped to Cyprus Tuesday, but how long the full evacuation will take remains uncertain.

"I had heard it might take a week, two weeks. You hear so many things," said Pamela Pattie, a 65-year-old professor. "Why in the world aren't we getting it together?"

The frustration has been intensified by news that other countries have already pulled many citizens out of Lebanon, efficiently and free of cost. A ferry chartered by the French government carried some 800 French citizens and several dozen Americans to Cyprus Monday, for example.

Other nations have packed their citizens into rented tour buses and spirited them over the mountains to Syria. But the State Department has warned Americans against traveling to Syria.

1. "Why in the world aren't we getting it together?"
Why? Because this administration can use your cold American corpse to rally the blind faithful should the worst happen. Good luck to you and the other Americans stranded in the thick of it, you're all going to need every ounce of luck you can get and then some.

4. You are wrong .....
EVERY american corpse will be a cudgel with which to batter the GOP ...... There is no claim to fame to be found here .....

Lebanon is Katrina all over again ....

> They seemed to be clueless when it began, and listless and unsure as it continues ...

> They didn't plan on avoiding the war, or have a response ready once it did begin ....

> Americans ... stranded .... awaiting a government that is not in any position to help them : again .....

No ... this is no benefit to the BFEE and their Neocon friends .... it is another example of the ineptitude and incompetence that was on full display during Katrina ....

Think of the citizens of New Orleans milling around the Superdome .... then look at the Americans in Lebanon .... There is little difference in how their government is handling them ....
