Former CNN anchor now working at CBC in Toronto.
I thought DUers might be interested to know that Lynn Russell, former news anchor at CNN is now living in Toronto, working at CBC. She does not seem to have very good feelings towards CNN as it is now being run, as you can see by these quotes.....
<snip>
"I watched good friends and colleagues have to leave . . . and things were being changed so dramatically. Finally, when I was asked what I wanted to do to change the evening shift , I said, 'I think I'll just go home now.' "
<snip>
"There are still wonderful journalists at CNN and very dear friends of mine . . . but the mission is over," she said. "It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a birth of a network, but it's changed so much and you can't miss what's not there any more."

5. Yes....she looks much younger and doesn't look as if she's had
a face lift. She's a good news person.

12. Related To Roslind Russell??
I am a HUGE fan of Rosalind Russell, and I always thought that Lynn Russell looked a little like Rosalind Russell -- especially when she smiled.

I'm sorry I don't get CBC.

15. I used to get it on NWI on sattelite channel 366
before it became Current TV. This is one move I wish Al Gore had not done. The CBC news that NWI ran twice a day kept me sane. Now the only recourse those of us who can't stand TV news anywhere is the internet.

13. Very interesting article, thanks for posting!
I certainly agree with her statement, for the most part anyway:

For her part, Russell finds Canadian newscasts diverse and refreshing, and hopes to become a regular fixture in Canadian television.

"We run a lot of stories you would not see on your average American network," she said. "Sometimes forget that there is a world out there and they remember it only when there is catastrophe and enough people have died to report it. It's completely different here, because there's an interest and the opportunity to pursue different stories. . . . It's a wonderful environment to be a journalist."

I just hope we can keep that environment alive and stop the "Americanization" of our media.
