DNC can now depose GOP leaders in NH jamming...court clears way.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/usnw/20060713/pl_usnw/new_hampshire_court_ruling_clears_way_for_d_c__depositions129_xml

"WASHINGTON, July 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A New Hampshire judge today granted a motion that will allow lawyers for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the New Hampshire Democratic Party to seek discovery against the White House and leading Republican political operatives in Washington to determine how involved they were in the criminal conspiracy to disenfranchise New Hampshire voters in 2002. The motion specifically named former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie, former White House Political Director (and current RNC Chairman) Ken Mehlman, and former RNC Political Director Terry Nelson, now one of Republican Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record)'s top political

"By allowing the discovery process to move forward, today's ruling brings us one step closer to finding out who knew what and when they knew it on the criminal scheme to disenfranchise New Hampshire voters," said DNC Communications Director Karen Finney. "It is time for the White House and the Republican National Committee to stop stonewalling on this crucial case and finally answer legitimate questions about which Republican officials were so eager to win elections that they willingly undermined the American people's fundamental right to vote.

"The American people deserve leaders who understand that the right of every American to vote and have that vote counted is the foundation of our great democratic society. It is the essential right that guarantees the rest of our Constitutional freedoms. While the Democratic Party is committed to making it easier, not harder, for all Americans to vote, this shameful case and the troubling effort by Republicans in Washington to water down the Voting Rights Act shows that leading Republican are more interested in protecting their Party's electoral chances than in protecting the right of the American to participate in the political process.

"As part of the Democratic Party's commitment protecting voting rights and to getting answers in this case, lawyers for the DNC and the New Hampshire Democratic Party will finally be able to depose leading Republicans who have played a role in this case."

1. I had hoped that the ruling would greenlight DNC attorneys and their
assigns to stuff Republican operatives into wood chippers, but I will accept the provisions as they stand.
