It seems that many, even here on DU, disagree with this statement. Perhaps freedom remains the domain of Americans, or a certain class of people, or perhaps a particular race. Maybe only people of the correct political party should be allowed to exercise freedom. Or people who dress a certain way. Or who use a specific set of words when communicating.

Personally, I believe that freedom is not only our right, but our responsibility. It is our duty to live free, to unquestionably prove that freedom is a real and achievable goal, so that no one can claim otherwise. And it is no less important a fight to stand up for freedom of thought or of expression than freedom from tyranny, as all of these freedoms are connected.

Are you free? Are you ready for your neighbor to be free?

I may be dense, but I believe a claim that DUers do not support freedom must be backed up by examples.
