To all you folks that think God "Loves" the USA.....
And that somehow we will gain favor as a nation if only we genuflect more.....

Here's some words from God's word that should inform you..... Pay particular attention to the word "vanity"

Isaiah 40

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.

17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

2. I went through a brief reborn phase many years ago back in high school

and one of the things that finally brought me back to my senses were quotes like this, and so many others, that contradicted so much of what they evangelized. The deal breaker for me was the whole: "you must accept Jesus into your life, again, or you're going to hell." This is a foundational tennant of the fundie movement, and I think Jesus would disagree.

Just my two cents.

3. "...I can hear God saying to America, "You are too arrogant."
"Don't let anybody make you think that God chose America as his divine messianic force to be a sort of policeman for the whole world. God has a way of standing before the nations with judgment and it seems that I can hear God saying to America, 'You are too arrogant. If you don't change your ways, I will rise up and break the backbone of your power, and I will place it in the hands of a nation that doesn't even know my name.'"
