Bush Flip-Flops On N.Korea At U.N. - Will Now Settle For Informal Talks

SEOUL (Reuters) - The United States, facing opposition to proposed U.N. sanctions against North Korea for this week's missile tests, said on Saturday it backed China's proposal for informal talks to re-engage the reclusive state.

China -- the closest North Korea has for an ally -- and Russia oppose a draft U.N. Security Council resolution by Japan to bar missile-related financial and technology transactions with North Korea because of the missile launches.

Instead the focus is shifting towards ways to re-start six-nation talks, stalled since late last year, aimed at persuading North Korea to end its nuclear weapons programme.

"The Chinese have talked about putting together a six-party informal. We both support that," the top U.S. envoy for North Korea, Christopher Hill, told reporters in Seoul after a meeting with a South Korean official.

2. In true cowardly bully form bush** backs down from somebody who
could probably hit back.

Good, I think that its stupid not to try to deal with this through negotiations and discourse.

3. Clinton had "Informal Talks" w/ N.K. for years, results =
no missiles or nukes. Bill Richardson held 'em. Bush got in and said no way
would he do what Clinton did results = nukes & missiles

God is bush a waste of space ..... MBA prez sure ..... rule #1 if it is working and you
are getting the desired product do not switch to a "new line" without knowing what
will happen.

Maybe McDonalds should get out of the fast food biz and go into lawn care?????
