Does any of you remember the very long thread we had few months back
about the similarities between today and the Nixon era? It went on for several days.

Well, the last two weeks, with the wiretaps and so many news, it is obvious Deja Vu doesn't properly describe it. Bush* and his admin has actually surpased the Nixon corruption era.

And, I just read somewhere about how many of Bush*'s cronies (Cheney & Rumsfeld in particular) were followers of Nixon.

So much for similarities, this is a re-run...

1. They weren't followers. They were actively involved in Nixon's
Administration, Reagan's and Bush, Sr's. too. These were people who were convicted of crimes, many served time and here they are in charge again. How did that happen?

2. Right.
Both were in Nixon's and Ford's administrations; Rumsfeld was in Reagan's, and Cheney in Bush1's.

4. Were they ever not in charge?...
is more the question for me. With the revolving door between government positions, think-tank policy makers, and lobbying for the various industry's that have the muscle, these people did not have to dust off before re-emerging...they've been there all along.

5. Maybe it's like women who seek out abusive or agressive men.

Maybe too many Americans suffer from low self esteem, low self worth, and association with these guys make them feel like competent and worth while people.

That is just tragic. Mostly for the rest of us.
