Gore Assails Domestic Wiretapping Program

By LARRY MARGASAK
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former Vice President Al Gore called Monday for an independent investigation of President Bush's domestic spying program, contending the president "repeatedly and persistently" broke the law by eavesdropping on Americans without court approval.

Speaking on Martin Luther King Jr.'s national holiday, the man who lost the 2000 presidential election to Bush was interrupted repeatedly by applause as he called the anti-terrorism program "a threat to the very structure of our government."

Gore charged that the administration acted without congressional authority and made a "direct assault" on a special federal court that authorizes requests to eavesdrop on Americans. One judge on the court resigned last month, voicing concerns about the National Security Agency's surveillance of e-mails and phone calls.

1. They quote more from the RNC "response"
and quote the RNC higher up in the article, than they quote Gore.

In some ways this article is good, but it clearly displays the media's fear of the RNC.

7. I was a newspaper reporter for more than 20 years
and I know how to look for the little subtle biases in a story.

8. I think you are a quick read.
Yep, they saw which side their bread was buttered. In a 20th century world, however.

I keep going over, in my mind, the words the RNC CFO said on that interview in 2004. That the internet was only useful for fund raising - and thinking just how shallow that thought was.

I note that some of the most powerful moments in our 20th century, accomplished with civil means. And I keep thinking just what a tool the internet really is.

There can come a day civil disobedience can be used via internet. And I think that is the day the 21st century overtakes the 20th century.

I have a problem with CNN reporting, sometimes. Maybe many do. What if a coordinated boycott - for just 24 hours, say - could be accomplished with just internet means??

Just 24 hours - imagine the total havoc we would inflict on their ratings and advertising base. And imagine the impact on their ratings and advertising sales. They know where their bread is buttered too. That day is coming.

Joe

2. Is that all they could offer.........
The RNC knows damn well all Democratic bills, amendments and plans are moot as they do not allow a loyal opposition. Gore inserts himself into the headlines of the day....guess what he said what people are thinking & feeling.
