Edited on Thu Jun-29-06 12:02 PM by hootinholler
Yes! I'm talking to you torture-boy. Remember those little old memos you wrote to help Rumsfield justify torture? Well, you know what? I do.

Was it an error in judgment? I think not, for behold the traitorous monstrosity that returns to your eye from the mirror. Did you leave enough wiggle room in those memos such that you are not liable you architect of misery? You pale Marquis De Sade impersonator, you wretched, bilious waste of humanity.

Those voices you paid lip service to while drafting the cover? That was your conscience and it even made itself heard in those memos, didn't it? Wasn't one of your goals to separate the applicability of the Geneva Treaties from this action?

Has it puckered yet? Are you having an aw shit moment? Did you have to go check your tightie whities when you got the news?

Will the ministry of propaganda be able to keep the idea that the USSC has just declared that the treatment of prisoners held in G'tmo and indirectly Abu Grhaib as well, are WAR CRIMES?

I know my sphincter is all aquiver, but because I have had my hope strengthened that I will see you bread-hating-shit-sandwich-eating criminals at least in Leavenworth.

-Holler

3. What a shitty attorney he is. He gave his client very, very bad advice
He told his boss that everything would be cool. He obviously is in way over his head. He was a half-assed personal attorney, but he is a total abject failure as a high-level attorney for the government. Fire his ass now George. He's embarrassed you in front of the world!

I think the OP was too kind. Alberto should be required to spend the rest of his life cleaning toilets with his tongue at Leavenworth.

14. Yoo Hoo, Yes You Too Yoo! -- The "Other" Alberto (Mora) - USNavy Counsel
Remember him? You All Were Put On Notice.

On February 6th, Mora invited Yoo to his office, in the Pentagon, to discuss the opinion. Mora asked him, “Are you saying the President has the authority to order torture?”

“Yes,” Yoo replied.

“I don’t think so,” Mora said.

“I’m not talking policy,” Yoo said. “I’m just talking about the law.”

“Well, where are we going to have the policy discussion, then?” Mora asked.

Mora wrote that Yoo replied that he didn’t know; maybe, he suggested, it would take place inside the Pentagon, where the defense-policy experts were. (Yoo said that he recalled discussing only how the policy issues should be debated, and where. Torture, he said, was not an option under consideration.)

But Mora knew that there would be no such discussion; as the Administration saw it, the question would be settled by Yoo’s opinion.

...

This standard had been in effect for fifty years, and all members of the U.S. armed services were trained to follow it. One by one, the military officers argued for returning the U.S. to what they called the high ground. But two people opposed it. One was Stephen Cambone, the under-secretary of defense for intelligence; the other was Haynes. They argued that the articulated standard would limit America’s “flexibility.” It also might expose Administration officials to charges of war crimes: if Common Article Three became the standard for treatment, then it might become a crime to violate it. Their opposition was enough to scuttle the proposal.

In exasperation, according to another participant, Mora said that whether the Pentagon enshrined it as official policy or not, the Geneva conventions were already written into both U.S. and international law. Any grave breach of them, at home or abroad, was classified as a war crime. To emphasize his position, he took out a copy of the text of U.S. Code 18.2441, the War Crimes Act, which forbids the violation of Common Article Three, and read from it. The point, Mora told me, was that “it’s a statute. It exists—we’re not free to disregard it. We’re bound by it. It’s been adopted by the Congress. And we’re not the only interpreters of it. Other nations could have U.S. officials arrested.”

We can avoid all that messy "foreign rendition" by following a simple formula:

Censure >> Impeach >> Remove >> Prosecute >> Repeat

Until all members and appointees of this never-elected, never-legitimate regime are gone.

Some of them to the Hague.

It is our ONLY moral, patriotic option.
