Leaky Elephant in the Room (Pun Intended)
Edited on Wed Jun-28-06 09:10 AM by Laura PackYourBags
WHO LEAKED? WHY ISN'T THAT AN ISSUE? IS THIS OLD NEWS? AND WAS THE SENATE BRIEFED? - THIS WHOLE ISSUE STINKS OF ELEPHANTS

The MSM continues to ignore the elephant in the room. Who leaked the information to the New York Times? This is a stunning omission and a question that begs to be asked. While the press allows the pResident and vice pResident to rant and rave, one has to wonder - just who leaked this and was it just for the purpose of allowing these criminals to rant and rave?

Adding to this mystery, A C-SPAN caller this morning said that this information was reported by the Washington Post a year ago. The caller also said the information was published in a book, as well. (Have not been able to locate the sources yet). If true, why the fuss now?

Furthermore, yesterday, Wolf asked Pat Roberts R-Kansas, if the Intelligence Committee had been briefed. He said yes. But when Wolf (briefly masquerading as a journalist) asked him WHEN they were briefed, he refused to answer. Wolf then implied that they were not briefed until after the NYT reporting. Roberts again refused to answer.

Bank Data Is Sifted by U.S. in Secret to Block Terror

WASHINGTON, June 22 — Under a secret Bush administration program initiated weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks, counter terrorism officials have gained access to financial records from a vast international database and examined banking transactions involving thousands of Americans and others in the United States, according to government and industry officials. a unique and powerful window into the operations of terrorist networks." <snip>

Nearly 20 current and former government officials and industry executives discussed aspects of the Swift operation with The New York Times on condition of anonymity because the program remains classified of those officials expressed reservations about the program, saying that what they viewed as an urgent, temporary measure had become permanent nearly five years later without specific Congressional approval or formal authorization. <snip>

1. Yep! "Look over here!"
Blame reporters who are reporting... forget HOW they got their information.

2. Even Jon Stewart didn't mention the leak source last night. I
am actually surprised that the NYT hasn't made that point. But I suppose they don't want to turn the spotlight on their sources.

If Bush's concern is genuine. Then WHY the hell isn't he vERY upset that people in his administration are leaking?????
