1. And suddenly, Porgie has come to Jesus over global warming!
Guess when that damn elm almost hit him on the head it made a brain cell fire.

Ole Porgie's legacy--his inaction caused the obverse of the twenty dollar bill to become outdated.

It's the tree on the right that bit the dust:

7. It fell across the driveway, over a hundred years old
The roots gave out with all the rain. Landed right at the front door.

2. In Montgomery
The weather the past three days has been horrendous, but, thankfully, my area has not yet been called for an evacuation. What worries me, however, is that I am moving to Rochester, NY this Friday and would really like to do so on time. I'm afraid the constant rain might be changing those plans.

3. A couple of years ago...
This is probably only a 10 year event. I had to ford a couple of creeks last night on the way home from work, the main bridge was dry, but the water was going around the bridge in addition to going under it.

5. they have all of these new developments that disrupt the natural flow
of the runoff and direct it into these concrete beds that overflow. The streams they replaced used to allow for more seepage. Now runoff is a problem that won't go away until they figure out how to replicate the natural effect of the streams they destroyed.

6. I had to drive through moving water last night to get home
an overflowing stream had washed over the roadway. I think I have seen that once in the last 15 years, the other time was due to snow melt. I was a little nervous, but people were stopping before the water and going across slowly one at a time. It also gave me an idea of how deep the water was. I was still a bit nervous though.
