Lessons from a Larger-than-Life President

By KARL ROVE
Posted Sunday, Jun 25, 2006
Theodore Roosevelt is one of the most remarkable figures in America's story. Adventurous, brave, opinionated, a larger-than-life personality, he was a man of action, energy and motion. T.R. loved what he called "the literature of history"--and wanted to be a key actor in America's great drama.

How subliminal!

From this thread:
Bush reading reveals history fan

Hmmmm?

His reading includes When Trumpets Call: Theodore Roosevelt After the White House by Patricia O'Toole, which is about the former leader's African safari and his attempt to return to politics after leaving the White House in 1909.

Q: Thinking about a take over, a third run?

He is also reading Imperial Grunts: The American Military on the Ground - an account of the daily lives of US soldiers as told by Robert Kaplan, who accompanied several units overseas.

Q: Preparing notes for those who would question his AWOL status?

Bush may be skimming the books for ways to circumvent the law or spin his positions. Anything on the list about Truman?

Does anyone doubt Karl Rove is on the defensive, trying to salvage an arrogant power grab? These people seriously believe they are above the law

1. Why is Time Magazine printing the self-justifying nonsense of this man?
It is my understanding that Rove & his consigliere Luskin caused a fair amount of trouble over at Time.

6. Maybe Rove could help his creation by looking at TR's example...
1. Trust-busting
2. Sticking up for labor against the wishes of the Republican party
3. Price controls
4. Rigorous inspection of the meatpacking industry
5. Helped mediate a conflict between Russia and Japan

Just a few off the top of my head.

Bush has nothing on TR.

1. Eased regulation of all industry
2. Sticks it to labor as per the wishes of the Republican Party
3. Will not step in to control the ridiculous price of oil
4. Continued Reagan's lax meat inspection regime thus exposing every citizen to unnecessary foodborne illnesses.
5. Refuses to mediate all sorts of regional conflicts, and in fact encourages conflict to justify oil profits and military intervention
