Murtha Cheered At Welcome Home Ceremony For Troops…
While Staff Sgt. Randy Myers was dodging roadside bombs in Iraq, his congressman was calling the war a lost cause.

Sixteen-term Rep. John Murtha (news, bio, voting record), a decorated Vietnam veteran and military hawk, has become the face of the Democrats' anti-war movement since he called for the withdrawal of U.S. troops last fall. His oft-repeated criticism of the Bush administration's war policies also has earned him the wrath of Republicans.

In Murtha's southwest Pennsylvania district, however, many share the war critic's views.

At a welcome home ceremony this week for Myers and other troops from the Johnstown, Pa.-based 876th Engineer Battalion, the crowd cheered when a Murtha aide welcomed the troops on the congressman's behalf.

2. I've already e-mailed the article to CNN.
Asking why that isn't on their front page. If Rove had been getting the cheers, they would be all over it.

9. Yes, the Liberal Media will make this a top story with interviews...
replays, discussions and they will repeat it every hour for two days. The LIEberal Media will not let this go.

5. Murtha doesn't want to
undermine the troops..he wants to save any more unecessary deaths and mutalations from a lost cause based on fucking bush lies in the first drum beat for War On Iraq.

All but the most deeply immersed in koolaid can see this.

7. Wonder how many freepturds will claim that
the crowd was ordered to cheer (ignoring the fact that the "crowd" was not full of military personnel, but the families of the personnel?)

and thus ignoring the probability that the troops that greet Bush with great ovations are possibly ordered to do so?

Side note: I read about how Vince McMahon once goaded the crowd into being louder and rowdier sounding than they really were, and once he got them really "riled up", that's when he started taping the "intro" to the event . . . like the fans really were that excited about an empty ring . . . The Republican party sounds like a Vince McMahon prepared interview . . . and, sadly, it works for them . . .

I'll be very happily voting for him again in November. :patriot:

15. I can't believe I missed this event
Murtha is my neighbor. He is about as great a person as you'd expect, and has been highly regarded in this area for many years (obviously since he continues to be re-elected and even the Repubs like him.

I can't believe that I didn't make it to see him. UGH!

11. "But once you're into it, you're stuck with it."
:puke:

Why do people not try to apply their 'war-logic' to their everyday lives?

You are frustrated with your neighbors, so your take out your AK47 and let them have it.

You are frustrated with your place of work, so you bomb it.

You are frustrated with your old car - keep spending money and breaking down and getting into accidents that cause injuries and death to others - but, hey - once you're into it, you're stuck with it.

It is DOES NOT APPLY to dealing with your neighbors, then it DOES NOT APPLY to dealing with people far, far away.

12. You damn straight he got cheered!
He's a real American war hero (and didn't have to play one for a photo-op), and he is telling it like it is to those who haven't quite figured out that the war planning for Iraq has been disastrous.

what we should be doing is supporting people like Lt. Watada.

~snip~

"Myers said he backs Murtha, an opinion echoed by a number of other troops and their families. Several share his frustration with the conflict."

19. Murtha is the man.
I love it. Apparently most sane people understand Murtha is the best freind a GI ever had. He is sincere when he speaks of the troops and they know it. A phoney who uses the troops , like bush has, can be spotted from miles away.

Murtha for Pres.
