If anyone mouths "cut and run" at you, ask them:
If you had your family's life savings invested in a stock on the advice of a broker, and subsequently found out the information you had been given leading you to believe that that company was sound was faulty, false information, and now the stock of that company was going into the toilet, and you had already lost half the value of your investment with no apparent prospect to gain any of it back (in fact, every appearance it may lose ALL its value), but the same original investment adviser kept telling you to hang onto it without giving any solid reassurances why you should do so, would you be more of an ass if you

1) sold your investment and cut your losses, thereby acknowledging your original mistake but minimizing the consequences, or

2) if you held onto it until the bitter end, when the company was bankrupt and your stock worthless?

3. I don't know if that's a good analogy
I mean, half the time we're talking about people who still think the Omega Fund is going to pay off someday...

4. Yeah, how's that Enron stock doing?
"Cut and run" is one way to look at it, I suppose. However, blind stubbornness does not translate into a very useful foreign policy, and maybe it's time to do something else, because burning through men, money and materiel* doesn't seem to be doing the trick in Iraq. You can't keep doing the same thing over and over again, and expect different results.

*Yes, I know there are women in Iraq, too. But the alliteration was too much to resist. Sue me.

7. I've kind of always prefered cutting and running

to staying and dying. Cutting and running from Vietnam would have been the best option in 1964, and unquestionably so in 1968.
Seems to me that the Republicans are the party of digging whatever dire hole we're in at the moment still deeper, and then throwing the American people down in it.

8. I prefer "Cut-n-Run" to "Lie-n-Die" (Kerry's meme)
It is better to live on your knees than to die on your feet, as the wise old Italian instructs various U.S. aviators in "Catch 22."

9. Or you could say......
Point out that the Viet Nam war dragged on for TWELVE YEARS because we couldn't figure out an exit strategy, and every time someone suggested coming up with one you heard this same exact "cut and run" mantra.

Ask them if the they want us in Iraq for another nine years!

11. Its VietNam all over again
The same arguments for staying the course, only they put the word "terrorist" in place of communist. Even if we ignore the lies and deciept they used to get us into war, you cant ignore the failed policy they have used now that we are in Iraq. (and are still using)

No matter how long we stay it wont be long enough to them. Vietnam went on for decades and it wasnt long enough for the warmongers.

You know, Vietnam, Lebanon, Somalia, should we re-invade such places, if leaving was such a mistake?
