Poll question: Why is everything a Freeper says a lie?

It's true. If a Freeper* says he just took a huge dump, you better go check the toilet before he flushes. If he says the sky is blue, it must be nighttime.

But WHY? Why is it that they lie about literally everything?




* For those new at this, a Freeper is anybody who is a member of Free Republic, but, by extension, any right-wingnut. Examples would be Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, and Rush Limbaugh.

For example, regarding Iraq, they feel compelled to say that things are going great over there, but the mainstream news just doesn't report it.

Or, take global warming -- **all** citizens of Earth ignore the compiled scientific data at their own peril, yet the right-wing talking point on this is to dismiss it as scare-mongering.
What do they possibly perceive as a negative that will come by their trying to consider the environment?

They somehow think it's "tough" to be a heartless right-winger ("no more government handouts"), since self-righteously "face facts," and have few doubts.

Also, it's possible that most freepers go through their day **never** listening to an opposing viewpoint. They listen to Rush and Hannity during the commute, watch Fox News in the evenings, and read right-wing blogs in between. They are not getting any exposure to different ideas.

their brain's inability to accept alternatives.

For example, ever open your cabinet looking for the salt shaker, but your brain keeps telling you it isn't there? You keep looking over and over and swear to god it isn't there though you knew it should be, and find yourself cursing where in the hell is it? You know you are looking at every single spot in the cabinet, but it just simply isn't there? And then someone walks right up and says "hey, it's right here!" and it was?

Your brain simply refused to perceive the reality that it was right there. It instead perceived its own reality that it wasn't, and your eyes followed suit.

Same thing with freepers. They generally aren't lying, they are simply perceiving things in error because their brains refuse to let them seek an alternate explanation.
