Rank the five most corrupt administrations in US history
According to the website Liberals Like Christ,

The contenders for the title of "the most corrupt administration in American history" are all Republican administrations.  It may be hard to order them exactly, but the contenders for the first, second, third & fourth "most corrupt administrations in American history" are the Republican administrations of Grant, Harding, Nixon and Reagan.

To this we must certainly add the Republican administration of George W. Bush.

Liberals Like Christ may not be able to order them, but DU doesn't have such a problem. Whatcha think?

1. Well there's the GW bush administration, then there's...
all the rest. And they're so far off in the distance that you can't even see them.

2. Their portrayal of a non-White Christ is absolutely blasphemous
The only color the Son of God can be is White. I can't find where it says that in the Bible, but it must be in there!

:sarcasm:

3. Well, there's the current one, of course....
that would be my top 3.

The last 2 spots would be held by the 2000 Bush Administration.

5. Not a presidential administration...
But what about William Marcy Tweed? "Boss Tweed," as he was known, was convicted and imprissoned for stealing millions in the late 1800s.

(he was a democrat)

8. I guess this is more or less conventional wisdom, but...
My ranking from worst to less worst (!) would be
1. G.W. Bush
2. Ronald Reagan
3. Richard Nixon
4. Harding
5. Ulysses S. Grant

I think some of the other post civil war administrations were pretty corrupt, as the industrial revolution created so much political power in the corporations.

13. Dubya only gets one slot. He's not that corrupt.
The fact that he started OUT corrupt, that his administration was corrupt even before its inauguration, and then it got worse is beside the point.

I think it was:

Reagan
Bush 43 a very close second
Harding
Nixon
Grant

The rankings can change over time, though. Reagan gets the top prize because of the number of felons he had working for him--I think the Reagan Administration contained more people who needed to be in jail than the Lincoln Administration contained people. So far we don't know the extent of Bush 43's criminality although we know it is severe. Is he the worst crook of all time? Possible, but so long as he's protected by the media we're not sure.

If a Democrat is ever elected again, America needs to go through the painful process of debushification. Like destalinization in the Soviet Union, debushification will serve to erase the image of Bush as the Second Coming and to inform about what kind of a bastard he really is. At that time, Bush 43 will probably have his jersey retired--no one will ever be able to be that corrupt again.
