Prisoner Died Of Excited Delirium, Not Shocks From Stun Gun
Prisoner, 21, Died Of Excited Delirium, Not Shocks From Stun Gun

POSTED: 7:07 am EDT June 15, 2006

BARTOW, Fla. -- A 21-year-old jail inmate who died after a fight with deputies during which he was shocked by a stun shield died of "excited delirium."

That's according to a report from the medical examiner's officer.

James Lee Griffin was arrested in March for violating probation. According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Griffin threatened other inmates while in custody and then fought with sheriff's deputies who used the shield to try to subdue him.

After the struggle, he stopped breathing and could not be revived. Griffin's autopsy report says there was no evidence of sufficient trauma or natural disease to explain his death. It says that excited delirium is a syndrome that can come on following a struggle and can cause an individual to go into cardiopulmonary arrest.

3. "excited delirium"?
:wtf:

Sounds like something they would have given out as cause of death in Victorian England.
