Talk Left says - No Rove Deal - He didn't get a 5K.
"Sometimes people just don't know when to cry "uncle." I do. I asked Robert Luskin this morning if Karl Rove has made a deal with Fitzgerald. His response:

There has never, ever been any discussion of a deal in any way, shape or form.

Which is exactly what Luskin told me weeks ago. It's over, folks. Karl Rove will not be charged with a crime. He's cooperated with Fitzgerald by testifying to the grand jury five times and providing whatever information he had without a safety net. Without a 5k. Without assurances he would not be indicted. That's a hell of a risk, but Luskin pulled it off. My hat's off to Luskin.

<snip>

And yes, I think Jason needs to out his sources. If there was and will be no Indictment of Rove, his sources lied. If any are lawyers at Patton Boggs, I hope they lose their jobs and their law licenses."

Here's what a 5K is : http://www.ussc.gov/2004guid/5k1_1.htm

Not sure I believe that he didn't get a deal or not. It seems to be the only thing that makes any sense to me right now. Again, we will have to wait and see if Luskin can supply the letter because I am not anticipating Fitz making a statement one way or the other at this point, or maybe never where Rove is concerned.

1. LOL! Whoever wrote that crap is stupid. Rove cooperated out the goodness
of his heart. FIVE TIMES.

LUSKIN SAYS SO.

2. I wouldn't call Jeralyn Merritt
"full of crap" by any means.

She is just feeling resigned to the "end of the story".

I said that I didn't believe he did it without a deal myself, but she had been very supportive of action against Rove and a long time reporter on the Plame case.

Perhaps she is having a defeatist moment?

3. Perhaps. But Rove isn't the "Big Fish" & Luskin refuses to provide proof
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 12:55 PM by cryingshame
that he has a letter from Fitz.

Also, that blogger may feel a little self-important having spoken to Luskin. After all if Rove's lawyer talks to her... then Luskin MUST be telling the truth.

6. then you don't know who she is and how she fits in the play here
She is the blogger that called Luskin one lonely Saturday night and got yelled at for the privilege. Her habit is NOT to contact sources as a general rule, but to write commentary on what she sees covered.

She is a well known lawyer in her own right. She doesn't need to be a fame whore on this story at all.

Google her and you'll see.

7. STUPID????
You might want to go to Talk Left and read some of her remarks. Jeralyn Merritt is a respected and brilliant lawyer on our side. I have turned to her for information through this entire fiasco. She had contact with attorneys for Rove and was able to keep us informed.
I would never call her names!

9. Again, Rove cooperated FIVE TIMES with no pressure from the Prosecutor?
and we are to believe that because LUSKIN says so? To a blogger?

11. "To a blogger"? WTF
Have you looked at who she is? She's not just some broad in her parents basement making statements and placing calls and posting it on the web.

Have you visited the link and looked around there?

Would you say the same thing about, say, Firedoglake? Just a blogger?

10. No she meant no 5K deal
No guarantees for his testimony under a 5K deal, much like what Cunningham had.

I linked to the 5K cooperation info in the OP.
