3. As a lifelong staunch union member as well as unionist,
I'll offer this: That is NOT a legitimate "union issue" in these circumstances. Non-profit "cause" Handbills and such would customarily have the phrase "labor donated" at the bottom (where the 'bug' is usually found). Naturally, if the organization IS a union, that would be a different matter.

But if DU can afford it, it's worth considering.

8. we were the most affordable printer in town and they likey still are
but Lewis won't run that heavy bumper-sticker stock through his press. Printing is specialized when it comes to certain things.

4. Good point.
PM Skinner and see if there's anything we can do about that. It makes perfect sense. And congrats on the new member of your family! You look like a proud, caring Papa! :applause:

5. Here in Cleveland
I own and operate a small union print shop along with some of my family members. It's a small shop and we do a lot of union election related printing. I deal mainly with letterhead, envelopes, hand-out cards usually one or two color stuff. Some union printers can be pricey, others like myself, with very low overhead, are very reasonable. So with that shameless plug, if anyone needs union printing, please PM me. I also do 2 1/4" pinback buttons.

9. We have ONE union print shop locally.
They are not known for being cheap. They do excellent work, however, and I always call them first.

I always try and buy campaign supplies and stuff for my office locally (whenever possible) but I have to admit that finding a union shop that doesn't rape me on shipping might modify that a bit.

What kind of computer art/design files can you guys read?

Regards!

Laura

11. I do most of my page layout in
Pagemaker 6.5 and most graphics in Photoshop (LE). If need be I have my negs made from a service with the capability to rip directly from most any art/design files to negative. I stay away from 4 color process work as I am a small shop, but I do one and two color stuff fairly regularly.

12. I have never been able to afford a four color campaign piece.
Can't imagine what that would even be like to have that kind of cash, if you want the truth of it. Our local races are usually pretty lean on the budget--figure about $10,000 for a County Board district race and about $25-30K for a County-wide election. Virtually all of it is one or two color stuff just to economize.

I tend to do most of my work in Pagemaker as well. That has been my "weapon of choice" for years. I did a job on some graphic design work for a sign a couple of years ago, and ended up hand coloring a bunch of Union Logos in Illustrator. I have not wanted to deal with Illustrator since, and I am still pissed at myself for how badly I underbid that project.

As we get further into this election cycle, I may be looking for you on here.

Regards!

Laura
