Another one sees the light.
A friend of mine who lives in Texas forwarded this to me.

Subject: A Special Announcement from the Travis CountyDemocratic Chair

Dear Fellow Democrats:

It is with great excitement that I am able to inform you that Judge Julie Kocurek, of the 390th District Court of Travis County, is announcing this evening that she is joining the Democratic Party.

Until now, Judge Kocurek was the only Republican district judge in Travis County. She was appointed by then-Governor George W. Bush in 1999 to the newly created 390th District Court bench and won re-election twice as a Republican. However, as Judge Kocurek has told me, she feels that she is no longer in sync with the Republican Party and that the Democratic Party represents and promotes the values that are important to her. Thus, Judge Kocurek will make it official and will publicly announce her decision to become a Democrat this evening at 5:30 at the Allan House, 1104 San Antonio Street.

I know you are all as excited as I am to welcome Judge Julie Kocurek to our family of Travis County Democratic Elected Officials.

Democratically yours,

Chris Elliott
Chair, Travis County Democratic Party

2. Interesting in light of...
Last week's report on the Texas repuke platform that was released. I suspect there will be more. A lot of people must be getting fed up with their shenanigans down there.

7. I like Kansas - I can't help it!
When hubby and I drive east, we always find ourselves wanting to see tings in Kansas. I want to go to the Swedish Festical in Lindsborg, for instance. Haven't done it yet!

Here is my favorite side trip in Kansas - Lucas, just north of I-70. Garden of Eden. It is so neat - and if you like politics, you will love it!

Located 16 miles north of Interstate 70 in north-central Kansas, Lucas is home to S.P. Dinsmoor's incomparable garden and cabin. Lucas has "the most unique home for living or dead on Earth."

Samuel Perry Dinsmoor, a retired schoolteacher, Civil War veteran, farmer and Populist politician, began building the Garden of Eden and Cabin Home in 1907 at the age of 64. For 22 years he fashioned 113 tons (2,273 sacks) of cement and many tons of limestone into his unique "log" cabin with its surrounding sculptures. He opened his home to guests, conducting tours on the first floor and through the yard from 1907 until a few years before his death in 1932. Now owned and operated by a group formed to preserve it, the site is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and welcomes more than 10,000 visitors annually.

5. This is great news! Is there a list somewhere of officials who
have spurned the darkside? If not....maybe we should start one!
