And now for the rest of the story on military recruitment
http://www.news-press.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060609/OPINION/606090335/1015

Military service rings hollow if the exercise of First Amendment rights are not a reality. Bear in mind that the truth of military life does not offend the patriot; it underscores the sacrifice and commitment of every soldier. The issue addressed by Wage Peace is whether the students are signing up with a sense of patriotic commitment and sacrifice grounded in informed choice or do promises by recruiters mask the commitment.

Review any of the military literature fed to our kids. View the material with the understanding of two facts about adolescence:

1. Teenage brains are not fully developed. The last part to fully form sometime during the early to mid-20s is the frontal lobe, the area responsible for making sound judgments;

2. Rebellion against parents during teen years is part of a normal psychological development toward adulthood. The parent/child relationship is strained during this time. Parents have told me they have no idea what recruiters are telling their sons and daughters. In other words, high school students are easy marks for any marketing scheme. snip

There is no mention that the armed services require enlistees to prepare for combat, give up all their personal rights, and kill when ordered no matter what personal moral dilemmas arise...
